Funny seeing the anti-2A orgs jumping all over and supporting Ukraine's move to hand out AK's to civilians for its defense.

2/21 Biden admin pauses new federal oil and natural gas leases & permits on federal lands and waters.

2/24 Russia invades Ukraine, and in Bidens address to the nation: "I will do everything in my power to limit the pain the American people are feeling at the gas pump," :dunce: You can’t make this shit up..

Biden came into office with the US being a net exporter of oil amd natural gas, and he has done everything in his power to kill that, starting with Keystone on day 1. He 100% owns the skyrocketing gas prices, which will drive up inflation even more by raising the cost of every product you buy in shipping costs and in the majority of products are petroleum based or have petroleum based components (rubber, plastics, cardboard, etc, etc)…

Interesting thread. Basically Russia and China have been moving away from the dollar since 2014, meaning Russia can more easily work around sanctions (to a certain extent). Also if it's true that the recent round of sanctions are only on banks that have already been sanctioned and the Russian energy sector is largely un-sanctioned, then the sanctions will have limited impact. Europe still being mostly dependent on Russian oil seems to be the trump card in this whole economic warfare part of the equation. This will be interesting to watch.

Prices are high. Reminds me of 1983.

"When we first built our highways, we paid for them with a gas tax. … It was a fair concept then, and it is today."

So let’s more than double them as that guy proposed ^ even though prices today are a whopping $.16 lower than 1982-83. Who’s on board?

Oops, wrong thread.

I remember those days, sitting in line, 10 cards deep, waiting for gas. If you were lucky, they didn't run out of gas before you got your turn.

I was trying to stay on topic. We have another stumbling bumbling President trying to figure this out. Carter back then, Biden now, and the guy before Biden wasn't much better.

And the fed gas tax in 1982 was a whopping 5 cents a gallon. So Reagan suggested doubling it to 10 cents. Right now the gas tax national avg is over $.57 a gallon.

And you want to double that, while giving the mostly uppper income electric car drivers a pass :suspicious: Why do you hate the the poor and lower income, and middle class?

In the year 1983, the average retail price of gas was $1.16.
This is equivalent to $3.31 in 2022 dollars.

Today the AAA national avg $3.60 a gallon and headed up.

If this woman was really in Moscow when this interview was going on and is continuing to be in Moscow she has as big a set of balls as I've ever contemplated. Rhetorically of course. I saw this interview today and, after what you can see in this video, she goes on to talk about how the Russian government is misleading the Russian people, etc. I mean my jaw was at my navel as this woman went after the Russian government, saying it was violating the Russian Constitution, etc., while she is sitting in Moscow. I'm wondering if I'm ever going to see her again.

Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?
