MIT publicly challenged to vaccine debate, but still have not accepted. Surely a prestigious school such as MIT should be able to body slam the heretics.

Something we agree on - most folks here seem to think its tow the line. We had a discussion years ago about whether the term comes from horse-pulled barges on the Erie Canal or prizefighting

Well, it’s neither of those, but you’re right about one thing. It IS “toe the line”, not “tow the line”.

Toe the line. Originally a military term used with dimwitted grunts like Houndy to make sure they lined up where they were supposed to.

British Army and Navy used it.

Sure is a lit of people posting that covid is over since my posts on the numbers going down. Still going down and looking better, but not over. Vaccines are working, and a big FU to RFK Jr.

Sorry Gil. Vaccines had very little to do with the curves dropping. Omicron simply ran it's course.

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19
If you truly believe vaccines are working, how are you going to explain the next inevitable wave of cases?

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19
IMO, vaccines have helped but naturally become less effective as the virus mutates. I'm interested in how the lockdown crowd will respond to the next variant. What will they prioritize? What they believe is best for public health or their chances in the 2022 elections.

Indeed, the nature of omicron was that it was very short lived. Natural immunities, especially now post omicron, should be helping as well.SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Wed Mar 02, 2022 12:13 pmSorry Gil. Vaccines had very little to do with the curves dropping. Omicron simply ran it's course.

Because the vaccine was able to take on Omicron variants rather easily.SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Wed Mar 02, 2022 12:13 pmSorry Gil. Vaccines had very little to do with the curves dropping. Omicron simply ran it's course.

SeattleGriz, UNI88, Gannonfan or the Mayo Clinic.

The vaccines reduced that wave, the Omicron variants.

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19
They literally said people had to get boosters because the vaccine was not very effective against Omicron at all. And how many people ended up getting boosters? Hey, I'm pro-vaccine and pro-booster, when they let me get the 4th shot I'll do it in a heartbeat. But you're being dishonest here, the powers that be were very clear that the vaccines, without boosters, were not very effective against Omicron, and that people had to get boosted. We didn't have a big percentage of people get their boosters (not even half of the people who originally got the first vaccine) and yet Omicron came and went pretty quickly (just like it did everywhere in the world). Clearly something other than the vaccine was contributing to this. That's not even controversial.Gil Dobie wrote: ↑Wed Mar 02, 2022 1:30 pmBecause the vaccine was able to take on Omicron variants rather easily.SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Wed Mar 02, 2022 12:13 pm

Re: Coronavirus COVID-19
There was a recent report that the booster did a great job fighting Omicron and it's variants.UNI88 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 02, 2022 12:59 pmIMO, vaccines have helped but naturally become less effective as the virus mutates. There is also the recent Washington State Dept of Health statistics that show, vaccinated people were 5-7 times less likely to get covid, be hospitalized and die from covid, than unvaccinated people.
