Didn't say you were rewriting history or that Booth was a abolitionist.

I wasn't putting words in your mouth... I was asking you a question.

So you don't believe he was an abolitionst? Ok.

Then why did you post that about his fiance? That's got absolutely nothing to do with anything.

Or, does being engaged to someone who is against slavery make one a radical left winger?

Again, not saying you think that... just trying to figure out why you believe Booth was a radical left winger. :thumb: Feel free to explain.

By licensed do you mean CCP, or do you mean registered gun?

As in, you take a class, or two or three or lots, and are given permission by the STATE to carry concealed.

OR

You have it on your hip, out in the open, for all to see.
No classes needed for a CCP. Just a background check.

So, wkuhillhound, do you not go into bars because there might, could be some guy with a gun there? Do you not walk the streets because there could be some raving lunatic with a gun or a knife behind the next tree?
I go out. I'm not a complete homebody. I have no need to go to a bar. Whenever I walk the streets, I make sure that I have plenty of friends around me, I'm not going to be someone's target.

Here is the process as I did it.

1. Go to courthouse and fill out application
2. go to Sheriff office and get fingerprinted and pay fee.
3. wait a month
4. GO back to courthouse and sign card that the judge needs to sign
5. wait 2 weeks for them to mail you your card.

No classes, no safety checks, no tests. I can't say I agree with the process either.

You live in Guthrie freaking KY, and Montana isn't in your top 50? You REALLY need to have your head examined, Hound. ;) ;)

Here is what I think they should do. JUST MY OPINION.

1. Take written exam, Not hard just common sense stuff. If you do not pass, forced to take 1 (8) hour class then retake exam.
2. Finger print and background check
3. Show you can handle your weapon
4. Show you can shoot your weapon
5. Get card that day
Here you have to have a clean criminal record, show your hunter safety card, or firearms handling course certification, get fingerprinted, pay $30. and start packing.

The fact that you have a concealed weapons permit becomes a neon sign on your computer data, so expect to be handled a bit differently when being stopped by traffic cops, they have to have your weapon before proceeding.

Don't take this the wrong way.....got it.

I feel for ya to be afraid to walk the streets or whatever. That didn't sound right. Maybe, I feel for ya being in fear for yourself while/if you walk alone. Better? Still doesn't sound right.
The reason why I don't have a need to go to a bar is because I have fun doing other things like bowling. I walk in the park for exercise, I don't have to party like a rock star to have a good time. My idea of a good time is much different than the normal college student, or for the everyday person in general and that's OK. When you constantly hear reports of shootings and such, I am extremely cautious. Owning a gun does not calm my fears it only exacerbates them. It's like giving in to those criminals. Guns used in the wrong manner for the wrong reasons turn deadly. I know that most people are responsible by keeping guns away from children and such. I just can't shake the fear of that unknown that can happen at any time. There are risks that I'm willing to take but I just can't gamble where there is a gun involved. I may have more cushion for that wound, but the results are usually the same for everyone. You will be injured, that's a fact.

Not sure where my post went wrong. I wasn't talking about the bar. I could care less about bars. I was talking about walking down the street and you feeling the need to have lots of people around.

Why would owning a gun make you feel like you are giving into the bad guys?
Do you have OCD? Do you worry about everything?
Why would you be gambling if a gun would be involved? Because the bad guy might have one and you don't?

I will make sure that the odds are as much in my favor as they can possibly be if bad **** happens. I would like to carry until the day I die and never have to use my sidearm, but I would like to be have the chance to use it if the situations comes about. I don't think anybody wants to ever harm anyone else or have to result to the last measure but it can and does happen. If someone is intent on harming me, my wife, family or some guy that I never met before and I just happen to be there I will take action and not sit on the sidelines, whether it be intervening with words, making a phone call for help, attempting to dissolve the situation or if there is the possibility/or it has already occurred, great bodily harm/death, I will stand up and not be a victim.

You sound like a victim in the waiting WKU.
It's not your post. I am just stating an opinion.

To answer your questions. I don't like fighting fire with fire. That usually doesn't work, it just creates more fire. I just don't go to places where guns are likely to be involved. A bowling alley is an unlikely place and I enjoy bowling so two things accomplished at once. Yes the bowling alley does serve alcohol and no I don't drink period. I'm always by myself when bowling so drinking is NEVER an option. I'm not a drinker anyway, so I don't have to worry about driving drunk.

I don't worry about everything. I don't have OCD. I wouldn't be overweight if I worried about everything. I took the risk of eating too much of the wrong foods and this is where it got me. I don't own a gun so that will always be the case. It was good discussing this with you, but I have to go. Peace. :thumb:
