When the Constitution was ratified, there was no fed or state laws about the type of gun you could own. And you could even buy a cannon today. They're regulated as destructive devices under the Nat Firearms Act of 1934, but still legal for civilians to own.
You can absolutely sue firearms manufacturers. Ex you go to the range with your new firearm and it blows up in your face due to it being a defective product, you can absolutely sue the manufacturer.
