Ukrainians on that island that said fuck you and died, but didn't.
Russian cosmonauts taking extra space suits with them so they could wear the Ukrainian colors home.
Bombing of a maternity ward.

But probably the biggest issue is the either "your all in, or a Putin apologist" line of reasoning. This coming from the media that have been caught lying way too many times over the last couple years to be believed now.

I'm simply taking a what and see attitude.

I DO NOT want to go to war and keep seeing this unrestrained media pushing it. The same media that had over half of Democrats believing if you caught COVID, 50% went to the hospital.
Yes. Either “fog of war” or a carefully orchestrated social media campaign.

Take your pick. :coffee: :coffee:
I see you have been drinking from the same well

Since we are not actually at war with Russia, I am wondering what the objectives of this insidious social media plot are?

Has Russia actually not waged a war of aggression against a weaker neighbor? Are they not leveling cities like Mariupol? Is there a pedo pizza parlor in Kharkov?

Dude, really

I was making a joke. But if you want to take it seriously, the “objective” could be as simple as getting the US/NATO to help much, much more than they already are. I don’t know….

You been seeing the reports out of Mariupol? Ukrainians are saying the Ukrainian army would not let them leave and were actually shooting civilians that tried. Saying it was the Russians that saved them.

No, I haven’t.

I do read actual reporting from inside the country, and a lot of OSINT

Where, exactly, are you seeing these “Ukrainians” claiming it was the Ukrainian Army creating this huge hoax which would require thousands of complicit Ukrainians to pull off?

Boy, when you divert you sure do go whole hog

Ha, had to laugh at that. Didn't quite mean it that way. But the Azov battalion was not allowing Ukrainians to leave Mariupol and were thus using the civilians as shields. Also stories of them shooting anyone who tried to leave through the green corridors.

I'm simply not buying what the media is selling. I do agree with you that Russia invaded a weaker country, but outside of that, we are being told you have to think about the conflict in exactly the way the media wants you to view it, or you support Putin!

That is not true about the Azov Battalion. It could be true in an isolated sense - that someone was told “don’t go this way”-

But the Azov Battalion penning Ukr citizens up in Mariupol or any other eastern Ukr cities is completely false.

I don’t think anyone in that stadium is forced to be there, or fearful of not going.

Remember that even in the face of body bags coming back from Ukraine, Putin is polling above 50% in Russia. But that said, Putin completely controls the media there, which is chock full of propaganda over the last 10 years painting Ukraine as a NATO puppet and a Nazi threat to ethnic Russians living there. Putin’s playbook is exactly like the German National Socialists’ during the annexation of the Sudetenland, which was also largely supported by the German people due to the fact that they had been steeped in Nazi propaganda for some years prior to that.

I think if Russia had a free press, Putin would not even be in power now, much less polling at 50%, but all that being said… he could be hugely unpopular and would still be able to fill a soccer stadium.

It sure as hell isn’t on Twitter and Instagram. But everything should be treated with heavy skepticism…from both sides.

What is our media putting out that is other than Ukraine has been invaded by Russia in a war of aggression?

I’m seriously interested in what is making you so passive aggressive about this. You remind me of klam
Ghost of Kyiv
Ukrainians on that island that said fuck you and died, but didn't.
Russian cosmonauts taking extra space suits with them so they could wear the Ukrainian colors home.
Bombing of a maternity ward.

But probably the biggest issue is the either "your all in, or a Putin apologist" line of reasoning. This coming from the media that have been caught lying way too many times over the last couple years to be believed now.

I'm simply taking a what and see attitude.

I don't blame you for being skeptical of the MSM but that same skepticism should also be applied to the "conservative" media that is telling a different, pro-Putin story about Ukraine.

Trump-aligned 'America First' holdouts don't follow GOP in backing Ukraine
A far right wing of the Republican Party tightly bound to former President Donald Trump is fighting to push the GOP toward the “America First” isolationism that underpinned his 2016 presidential bid.

For the first time since Trump’s rise, his party is pushing back.
It would be great if we could find a place somewhere between isolationism and world police interventionism.

Zalensky: “the Russian military is becoming one of the leading arms suppliers of Ukraine”.

“Ukrainian forces captured a batch of intact Russian missiles and fired them back at Russian troops, CNN reported on Monday.

Russian troops trying to invade Kyiv from the northwestern city of Hostomel on Sunday were attacked with their own weapons, Yuri Golodov, the deputy commander of one of Ukraine's territorial forces, told CNN.

"Last night we sent the Ukrainian armed forces 24 Uragan missiles that were on their way here to fly over our cities," Golodov told CNN on Monday.

"We captured them intact, gave them to the armed forces of Ukraine at night, and now the Ukrainian army has fired missiles back at them," he added.

Golodov leads a team working to repair and repaint Russian military equipment that has been captured or abandoned, CNN reported.

The team works on different types of military vehicles at a junkyard in Kyiv, fixing broken parts, removing communications systems, and painting over any Russian military symbols, the report said.

"It looks like old weaponry, but actually if you use it correctly it will serve us for a long time," Golodov said, adding, "Everything that we take away from the Russian army, we transfer to the armed forces of Ukraine."

Well you started the sentence by referring to the MSM then referenced conservative media. As long as we agree that the lone conservative MSM voice is most decidedly NOT “pro Putin”. I don’t read nor pay attention to the fringe elements.

I guarantee there was a blog post on Conservative Treehouse on Mariupol echoing Russian state media talking points.

We agree.

My post was really to SG who is justifiably skeptical of the MSM but doesn't seem to apply that same skepticism to fringe conservative media outlets. If he' keeps posting some of their crap he might start his own Trump - Russia megathread.
