Eric Soza
Class: Freshman
Hometown: Beeville, Texas
High School: Beeville
Height / Weight:
6-1 / 185
Position: Quarterback
Birthdate: 08/12/1990
Experience: HS
During the broadcast of the THSCA game it was stated, by FSW broadcasters, Soza would redshirt this year. With George, Hawkins and Garza in the lineup I think this would be wise.
Observations of Soza from the TSHCA game:
Four-year starter at quarterback for his father and coach Chris Soza ... passed for 2,248 yards and 25 TDs, rushed for 1,001 yards and 15 touchdowns ... averaged 39 yards per punt, and registered 28 tackles and two interceptions on defense as a senior ... also had three kickoffs with one touchback, and drop-kicked two extra points ... ended his career with 8,052 yards passing with 86 touchdowns, along with 1,598 yards rushing with 29 touchdowns ... averaged 37 yards per punt, and recorded 65 tackles and five interceptions throughout hi career... was named the 2008 30-4A MVP ... named All South Texas Offensive Player of the Year, and an All Area First-Team QB ... was the District Offensive Player of the Year, and an All-South Texas First Team quarterback, All Area Co-Offensive MVP ... named an All-State quarterback Honorable Mention as a junior ... named the District Offensive Player of the Year in 2006 and Newcomer of the Year in 2005 ... was a four-time District All-Academic selection ... was the starting point guard on Beeville's basketball team, a pitcher on the school's baseball team, a regional qualifier in track and field, a member of the golf team, and ranked Number Two in his senior class

Observations of Soza from the TSHCA game:
High SchoolSan Marcos Daily Record
Beeville quarterback Eric Soza looked confident and poised in the pocket, as he went 4-for-7 with 63 yards passing. He threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Chris McCallister at the end of the second quarter. Soza provided the North defense plenty of looks behind center, as he guided the South offense in traditional I, Pro Set, Split Backs and Spread formations. He looked most comfortable out of the Shotgun, as he could survey the field and dance around the pocket longer. Soza also laid out for a touchdown attempt in the first quarter, but was upended and ruled out at the 1-yard line. The South team scored on the next play.
