Actually, we made lemonade out of that lemon. Lockheed Martin built the MagLev (not a monorail, that technology was available in the 60s) and screwed it up. After the screw up was found, LM got a large government contract and said they would not fix the thing. They admitted it in the Orlando Sentinel. ODU engineering has used the MagLev as a lab and has made progress on it while educating engineering students.

Back on topic, it's great to be here and we are anxious to join the mix. While we have a laughable schedule in our first year, rest assured that will not become a habit.

Yes, I forgot about Richard Cheney's companies flub. So when will your students have the MagLev ready for me to use in the "Locker Room?"

Only two weeks before ODU's first game! I went to the parking garage that overlooks the stadium tonight and stayed out of the rain as I watched a closed scrimmage. I have very little to compare it to as this is our first year. I've followed W&M and Norfolk State around here and I'm glad we don't play them this year.

Great site! Thank you for the warm welcome! As an ODU fan we are very fortunate that our Administration has done a great job in the painstaking planning for the revival of ODU football.

Everything has been done first class. We have a passionate football base in the area and the 757 is a hotbed for recruiting. We are all very excited. I look forward to following my brethren FCS schools throughout the season. Best of luck!

I can't blame you there. I'd say the same thing if I wasn't from Old Dominion.
But you have to admit, 1st year attendance in the top 5 of all of FCS (and probably ahead of 10 or so FBS schools), new/renovated facilities, and in the heart of a recruiting hotbed has got to be someting to worry about, even though the effect won't hit for another couple of years.

Please! Old Dominican is a horrible team... remember that! Its going to take *YEARS*, before that program gets off the ground... if it ever does. How long do you think that "loyal" fanbase is going to stick around & support a bottom-of-the-barrell CAA team untill they can find the throttle? The stadium is nice, its good they brought the program back, (and other kiss @ss remarks) BUT, the team still sucks and they are going to suck for a long time EVEN AFTER they join the CAA, so dont get ahead of yourself, guy. Having said that....... Welcome to the FCS!

Eastern Washington University....sounds like a school in which Adam Sandler would play a football star.

Is it your 12-18 basketball record or your 6-5 football record in 2008 that has you so proud of your team's accomplishments?

We hold 10 NCAA national championships. We won our last BB game in a postseason tournament on the road. We will outdraw you this year, and have a solid football team by 2012.

I appreciate the kind words, but we are here to compete. And, at least on the East Coast, Eastern Washington (District of Columbia), is code for the biggest slum in the mid-atlantic.

Oh, and by the way, it's Old DOMINION. Say our name right, beeeatch!@!!
