Is she AOC? Of course not. You don't want too many of those in Congress all at the same time anyway. A little fringe is good for the debate, too much fringe and the place is just crazy. But I'd say my Rep is certainly in line with most of Democratic Party thought right now. I don't agree with a decent chunk of it, but she's a good Representative so I vote for that.BDKJMU wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 12:42 pmSo I take it she's not a CPC (congressional progressive caucus) type left winger?GannonFan wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 12:13 pm
He was never a brain surgeon anyway. Like I said, I think he means well and his heart is in the right place. But I don't Oz is a bad guy either so it's not like any of these guys are awful human beings. But I expect more out of a US Senator. I told my wife the governor's race is easy (I wouldn't vote for Mastrioni on a bet) and my local rep is a Donk and she's been good in office so I'm voting for her again. But I haven't decided in the Senate race yet and I don't vote for party I vote for the person. Fetterman needs to show a little more than just having a campaign team that's good at snarky internet memes and tweets.

Fetterman seems likes he's more style than substance so maybe it doesn't matter as much for him.

True. Not everyone.
And yes…he’s a politician so style is all that matters to most people.
What are his policy positions that you disagree with.

Re: 2022 Elections Thread
He's not really a policy guy, unless you think how many homes Oz is and where those homes are are policy. I get it, it's a winning move in a race where you're ahead and when people do look to smarmy tweets and memes to determine who's winning the social media battle. But it also hides the fact that he's the opposite of a policy wonk. Even on his more signature positions, like say criminal justice reform (an area I'm actually in agreement) he's real light on what the solutions look like. His main policy on that to date is to sit on the prison reform board (as Lt Gov that's one of the jobs) - but that just goes after individual cases that warrant reform, not any far reaching, system-wide ideas on how to rectify what's wrong. And that's easily one of his strongest policy areas. I think he's probably a nice guy. Heck, I think Oz is probably a nice guy. I guess I'm looking for more in my Senators, though.

Didn't we just have an elected official like that? Could Fetterman be a fascist too?

Well, he agrees with the entire Bernie Sanders agenda (he said so). Positions he has openly stated he wants:
-to ban fracking (which is huge in PA)
-get rid of fossil fuels (he has signed a "no fossil fuels" pledge)
-raise taxes
-increase spending
-to release 1/3 of all prisoners in PA (despite current high crime rates (record high in PA cities).
-to decriminalize ALL illegal drugs
-open borders
-sanctuary cities
-against voter id
-abortion on demand with no restrictions, including partial birth
-for boys to be able to play on girls sports teams
-to ban modern sporting rifles
etc, etc, etc. He's basically you're typical far leftist masquerading behind his shaved head, goatee, tats, hoodie "i'm just like one of you union guys" blue collar shtick, which is a complete fraud. He was born to a wealthy family, lived with his parents until he was almost 40, bought his house from his sister for $1, and never had a real job before he somehow got elected mayor of a small town in PA at age 35.

My mom had a major stroke when she was 41. She returned to work within a few months and continued her career. Her speech was one of the last things to return. She has lingering issues for the rest of her life but it didn’t hamper her job.
