Attack on Obama Riles Beck's Advertisers
NEW YORK – Glenn Beck returns to Fox News Channel on Monday after a vacation with fewer companies willing to advertise on his show than when he left, part of the fallout from calling President Barack Obama a racist.
A total of 33 Fox advertisers, including Wal-Mart Stores Inc., CVS Caremark, Clorox and Sprint, directed that their commercials not air on Beck's show, according to the companies and ColorofChange.org, a group that promotes political action among blacks and launched a campaign to get advertisers to abandon him. That's more than a dozen more than were identified a week ago.

I can't remember who wrote the article, but the guy said Beck was good for the really nuts people out there. His line of reasoning was because he gives some legitimacy to the fringe crowd by addressing their deep seeded fears. Keeps them grounded to the real world, and thus less likely to kill us all in a fit of rage.mainejeff wrote:dbackjon wrote:Capitalism at it's finest![]()

If you armchair critics don't like Beck, why not catch him in a lie instead of whining about him?
Most of you useless juvenile delinquents - with notable exceptions on both sides and in the middle - would rather light your own farts than contribute anything intelligent or meaningful.
Glenn may be distastefully hysterical, but you pu$$ies who hate him are simply matching his hysteria in your criticism. He often has more credible guests than other talking heads. I challenge you geniuses to deconstruct Beck's analyses of Constitutional issues - without the histrionics.
Beck may have lost a few of his advertisers, but it will hurt his competition and all the last place networks more than it will hurt Beck. The advertisers who have left have simply shifted their dollars to other Fox programs, and sworn off of ALL political advertising.
Good news for Beck, bad news for MSNBC and the other losers. Capitalism at work.

I wonder how much money Fox has lost and will lose out on, even if for a short period of time.native wrote:If you armchair critics don't like Beck, why not catch him in a lie instead of whining about him?![]()

I doubt that Fox loses anything, but there must be an industry site that reports advertising revenues.MarkCCU wrote:I wonder how much money Fox has lost and will lose out on, even if for a short period of time.
Does anyone know where to check online?

While the advertising boycott has generated substantial media coverage, Fox News said it has not impacted the network's revenues or Beck's audience. "The advertisers referenced have all moved their spots from Beck to other programs on the network so there has been no revenue lost," a spokeswoman said.

Trivia: Teddy Roosevelt Sworn In Without a Bible
Theodore Roosevelt was the only U.S. President sworn in without a Bible.
Ansley Wilcox, who owned the Wilcox Mansion where Roosevelt was inaugurated, wrote: "According to my best recollection no Bible was used, but President Roosevelt was sworn in with uplifted hand." (The Presidents and Their Wives)

Probably won't hurt Beck, either. His annual income is reported to be $23 million.

I love the little censorship groups that get all riled up and start their little pussy campaigns like this to go at the advertisers to try and get whatever they don't want said on the air pulled. I don't care one way or the other about Beck as I only see him when someone posts a link on here and that is from one extreme to the other. I especially chuckle at the people in his medium that pull for shit like this to work in their favor. They're too fuckin' dumb to see that it will only be a short time before it comes down on them as well if it DOES work. This is every bit as stupid as going after David Letterman for making a joke about Palin's daughter. If you think that this kind of shit is good then you are one short sighted mother fucker.

Re: Attack on Obama Riles Beck's Advertisers
Don't agree with trying to get the talk censored or removed from the airwaves. However, have no problem with "offended" groups lobbying advertisers to pull their support from certain venues. IMO, no different than me choosing to drink a Guiness in a bar I like versus an establishment I don't like...purely capitalism & freedom of choice...Ursus A.
