I think I read that the bids will start over once the playoffs expand and the championship moves to the night before the BCS championship. That will be for the 2010 season. I'm sure Chatty will make another bid and I would expect that, if its comparable to the other bids, they'll just keep the game in Chatty.odualum08 wrote:Are they now accepting bids on a year by year basis? Things you got to figure in:
-Weather during this time period.
-Travel prices into that city or airports within 90 minutes of that city.
-Capacity of the facility.
-Quality of the facility.
-Community support of title game, people in that city go to game, even if team is not in it.

I'd say that's four to four and a half out of five!

That will be the nail in the coffin for the NCAA I think.

Montana is one of the 4 worst places to be in the United States. I understand you guys want the NC game close to your home, But its just right to put the game in freezing, snowy place. Its boring, theres nothing to do, the stadium is nice but so what!? theres alot of "nice" stadiums in the sunbelt region.

Re: Montana to bid for 2010 FCS Championship
Ya know what's odd about what you say here BF is that there are a lot of fans that come here and then start making return trips without the connection to football. There are guys from Troy State, Nichols State, and several other schools that make trips out here on a regular basis that I know personally. After last year at the event in Missoula I am hoping that we have some App. State, and others coming back more regularly. I even know a guy that was a Linebacker from Cal Poly that made his initial trip out here as a fan about 5 yrs. ago and said he couldn't wait to get back out here. Maybe it just isn't for you, but that doesn't hold true as far what you say needs to be in place for the NC game atmosphere.BlackFalkin wrote:Montana is one of the 4 worst places to be in the United States. Re: Montana to bid for 2010 FCS Championship
I don't think there is any question about the facilities, hospitality, etc. but Chatty's likely going to keep it because:
* no offense Mocs, but you're generally not contenders so it's nearly a lock for no home field advantage
* moderate climate, even in January
* ingress/egress from both infrastructure (airports within 100 miles) and above-mentioned weather perspectives
* maybe ECB, but Chatty better accomodates most of the recently historical contenders (App, Delaware, JMU, Richmond, UMass, GSU, Wofford, McNeese, etc.) - all but about 4 teams out of the top 15 this year would be within a reasonable bus ride or 2 hr flight.
I'm just not certain how much of even a dedicated fan base is willing to take on the uncertainty of a Montana January to make the trip. I'd love to go, but I'd be concerned about getting in and out.

Im sure it would be sweet as hell to have a FCS Championship game in an FCS atmosphere like WGS, but like alot of people are saying, nothing against the State of Montana, but its just too cold in January.

Hey man, I love Chatty and you don't have to believe me but it is a great venue for the game. It is a ton of fun and I have no problem with it being there.BlackFalkin wrote:You keep searchin for typo's bc we all know you cant search for hotties in griz country. I'm just sayin' that some of the problems that are being pointed out with Missoula don't seem to be problems with a lot of the other football fans I've met that have been here. I don't have to think only one spot is a good location for the NC game do I?
It will be cold usually in Mid January and I don't dispute that. What I am saying there is that you gotta be real sensitive to not be able to get through a couple of days of what we consider normal living. It just seems a bit overblown to me but if that is the main consideration then as I said in my original post on the thread...I don't see it happening.

Re: Montana to bid for 2010 FCS Championship
There are several pros and cons for this idea. The biggest pro is that Washington Grizzly Stadium is one of if not the best places to watch a football game, the seats put you right on top of the action, its loud and it is one of the prettiest areas of the country. However the biggest con would be not many people would want to because it does get freezing in Montana during the winter (even though id still attend ). If anything they need to make it more centralized like in the Midwest, i think even playing the game in Texas State's stadium after the expansion would be an ideal spot, especially with the new stadium renovations being done.

yeah, tailgating would be just as chilly as it would be in Montana. but it would be 68-72 for the game itself.
Actually, I believe UNI's former AD did put in a bid the last time it was up for bids, but I don't know if the new administration would pursue such a thing or not, especially with finances being what they are.
