NOTHING justifies and invasion and annexation of territory of another sovereign. That's played a big part in Russia having their butts handed to them, along with what other body parts they've had to ship home for way too many unfortunates caught up in this Putin glory-trip. :coffee:
According to the US, committed atrocities, which is what Ukraine was perpetrating on the Donbass and the local Roma population, qualifies.

The US is terrible at the geopolitical game and has been for years. If I remember correctly, even CID mentioned our diplomats are terrible compared to the rest of the World, especially Russia.

I simply want all the "friends of the family" hires to stop. If we're SO good at what we do geopolitically, then why do we have to keep going back to the "rules based order" (heads I win, tails you lose) instead of relying on international law?
Again, what territory have we annexed via war in the last 100+ years? We haven't done what Russia is doing in Ukraine since the 19th century. Not the same. :coffee:

No it's not the same because the two situations are geographically and politically different. What do you think the US would do to Mexico if China wanted to build a base on the border and put "defensive" weapons there?

The US goes into countries and smashes the shit out of everything if they don't feel a country is "friendly enough" to the US economic imperialism.

Link (to a non-Russian) source stating the US wanted to build a base in Ukraine?

The US is far from perfect but we invaded Afghanistan because the Taliban was protecting al-Qaeda. We shouldn't have invaded Iraq. Did we invade either country with the intent of permanently occupying them including cleansing current residents?

You're all over the place. You need to proofread these Russian bot talking points, you can't just robotically regurgitate them. You'll get a lot more rubles in your bank account if you put a little more effort into this.

Different situations. We're not threatening Mexico, so they don't even feel the need to run to China and ask them to protect them from us. If we did threaten Mexico with annihilation and erasing them from the map as a country, then it'd be the same thing. No one asked Ukraine to put a base and weapons in their country. Ukraine asked for those things themselves when Russia threatened them. NATO isn't expanding. Russia is pushing other countries to NATO. Major difference.

As for the "smashing the sh*t" out of everything, the two countries we went into recently that I recall were Afghanistan and Iraq. And in neither case did we do so because of "economic" imperalism. Economics didn't factor into either one. Geopolitics, sure. Economic imperialism, not really. Again, proofread those talking points. :coffee:

Oh no. No base. Just weaponry manned by Mexican troops on Mexican bases with a sprinkle of Chinese advisors. Only a few Chinese boots on the ground.

So, are you saying the invasion of Afghanistan was justified in light of the fact we killed 50k in civilians while the whole country is now ruled by that same Taliban? Huh?

Lastly, name a country outside of Russia's sphere of influence they have invaded and occupied? The US doesn't occupy, they break shit as often as they feel like to keep other countries down.

How about asking yourself what is so important in the middle east that the US doesn't want any sort of normalcy to develop. In addition, there are far more "worthy" countries the US could save, but for some geopolitical reason, we don't intervene. Wonder why.

I'll ask again - Link?

On Afghanistan, it's easy to look back in hindsight and say it was a mistake but we didn't know that when the decision was made. We handled the occupation and withdrawal poorly.

Do commercial interests drive many of our decisions? Yes. That's one of the many reasons that the US is far from perfect.

You're trying to use US military interventions to justify Russia's invasion of Ukraine and failing so you're flailing about looking for other aspects of those interventions to justify it.

I'm not justifying Russia. I'm saying the rest of the World does it better. We have too many people hired because of who they know, vs actual skills, creating their version of diplomacy, and they are hacks.

Why do you think we have too many people hired because of who they know? I would guess that it's true at the ambassadorial level where posts are given out as thank you's for campaign support but doubt it's true in the rank and file diplomatic corp.

I know from experience that Foreign Service hiring requirements/standards used to be extremely high. The pass rate on the Foreign Service Exam is approximately 20%. The few that pass it then move on to the Oral Assessments which historically were also difficult to pass.

17K dead? I don't buy it.
According to CSIS estimates, there have been approximately 60,000 to 70,000 Russian combat fatalities in Ukraine between February 2022 and February 2023

Tony Blinken is a twat. He gets hired, all those real hard working below him don't matter.

Not 17 Russian, Ukrainian. That's what the report said, although 15k perished in Mariupol. You can't even keep your disinformation correct.

Plenty of dumb sh!t happened under trump. He, not his minions, was usually the source of it though. I guess you could say that the American people put a twat in the White House.

My boi Biden? I try to have moral and ethical standards and didn't vote for Biden or trump.

Regardless of your tangent, the Trump administration was drawing down US forces around the world and lowering the heat, and thus why he was able to negotiate. Biden gets the old neocon band back and running and look what happened.

No, Trump appointed a majority of losers. It was an interesting experiment. You always hear civilian sector executives would run circles around establishment employees. A lot of civilians got exposed as ladder climbing hacks.

My guess is trump appointed business execs like himself who were born on 3rd base and thought they were home run hitters when they scored. Being born with a silver spoon in your mouth doesn't make you qualified or even competent.

Also, while corporate America has more than it's share of ladder climbing hacks, running a government agency is different than running a business so it's entirely possible for a competent private sector manager to struggle in the public sector.

I think thats what sent Putin over the edge - he came so close to having the US out of NATO just for the asking - and then it all went wrong when his stooge in the White House was unceremoniously sent packing but he decided to proceed with his plan anyway and committed one of recorded history's great military blunders and will be lucky to get out of what he stepped in alive. Nobody associates with Donald Trump and doesn't come away diminished by the experience.

So what's happening in the Sudan? Russia is currently being blamed for supporting the group trying to overthrow the government.

Now how come that doesn't make sense? Because Russia and Sudan have an agreement to build a Russian Naval Base that would support the stationing of ships and troops, BUT Russia is trying to overthrow this same government?

Another western media lie. The US are the ones supporting the overthrow of the current government.

Why don't you start another thread if you want to discuss a different subject? :coffee:

Now how come that doesn't make sense? Because Russia and Sudan have an agreement to build a Russian Naval Base that would support the stationing of ships and troops, BUT Russia is trying to overthrow this same government?

Another western media lie. The US are the ones supporting the overthrow of the current government.

Nice country you got there Sudan, be a shame for anything to happen to it. Rules based order!
Why didn’t Trump fix this while in office? Thanks Trump!
Don't you remember. It was cool to ignore the Commander in Chief's instructions.
