Speaking of Senator Kennedy....
In 2004 Senator Kennedy supported legislation in Massachusetts that removed the power of senatorial appointment from the governor. (That was Mitt Romney at the time). Why would they suddenly do this, you might ask? Because there was a possibility that John Kerry would vacate his seat that year, and Massachusetts Democrats did not want Romney appointing Kerry's successor.
Fast forward to today and we see the same group looking to overturn that same legislation so that the current Democrat governor can appoint Kennedy's successor. Nobosy seems to be pointing out the irony or blatant political flip flopping going on here.
Just a few days ago, Senator Kennedy stated that the citizens of Massachusetts deserved to have full representation in the Senate, and should therefore move to change the law so that there would not have to be a lengthy special election process. The process that exists now was installed by Democrats who, back in 2004, did not seem so interested in having a quick replacement for Kerry.

Spot on dude!
Kennedy was THE partisan hack, king of the world.
He was a drunk
He was racist
He was vicious towards women (repeated accusations of unwanted physical "contact")
He was an accomplice to rape
He was a murderer
He consistently displayed poor character and judgment and never learned from any of the repeated incidents over 50 years of despicable behavior.
Bad husband
Bad dad
Bad DNA (His kids were genetically inferior)
You libtards can remember him for who you wanted him to be........
I will remember him for who he WAS.

Regardless of Alfie's tirade, CID raises some good points. I'd be interested in a reasonable justification for the flip/flop if there is one. Or should it just be acknowledged as a partisan power play.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

It should be acknowlegded as excellent politics. Just short of torturing people in violation of the Geneva Convention, I suppose.

Partisan power play just like a rich white man gets a suspended sentance for killing a person after drinking all night at a party, and a rich black man goes to jail for 30 days, $10,000 fine, 1000 hours of community service, suspeneded from his job without pay for 1 year, and financial settlement with the family of the person he killed while drunk driving.UNI88 wrote:Regardless of Alfie's tirade, CID raises some good points. Gil - you can not seriously compare punishment from 1969 to 2009.
A lot of drunks got away with manslaughter back then - ask Laura Bush.
Hell, Leonard Little, a black man, got away with manslaughter 10 years ago.

Political power play like getting kicked out of Harvard for paying another student to take his test, joining the service for 2 years and coming back to get your Harvard degree.UNI88 wrote:Regardless of Alfie's tirade, CID raises some good points. It is excellent politics. Politics as usual. Politics in direct contradiction to "change I can believe in." This administration and its supporters in Congress are just as big of hypocrites as the last administration. When are we going to have a leader with the cajones to step up and do the right thing rather than the politically expedient thing? What kind of message are we giving our children by justifying this kind of BS? I may be an idealist, but we elected these people to lead this great country not to play games, cover their own azzes and feather their own nest. True progressives wouldn't be playing these games. I expect better from our leaders and for this country.Cap'n Cat wrote:UNI88 wrote:Regardless of Alfie's tirade, CID raises some good points.
