If true, and Smith’s team can’t produce the document(s), then the tape is a big NOTHINGBURGER..
They can’t produce something he stole and hasn’t returned. That said, part of the taped conversation was in the indictment. I’m guessing Smith (who’s months ahead of us) wouldn’t take chances on nothing burgers.

Also see BTK’s post on the 30 USSS testifying, Bedminster, and the other grand jury convened.
One, I can’t believe trump had the only copy of a document. There is another copy somewhere.

Two, trump admitting to keeping classified documents is not a nothing burger no matter how much the MAGAts wish it were.

Good point. I was thinking from an evidentiary standpoint. Unless he gave it back, they can’t use it as an exhibit (nor determine if one they submit is the actual he took or a copy).

One significant reason why the DOJ is pursuing the protective order and why this doesn’t end with the documents case.

 Ongoing investigations. How many times is that trotted out by the DC establishment? More specifically, how many times was that used in the Russia collusion case? Remember how that turned out?

Let me refresh for you.

Mueller: Trump is guilty of something and we have documents proving it.

Media: Let's see the documents.

Mueller: Can't prove what we say because of ongoing investigations.

Trump: Here, let me show you how they are lying.

Mueller: If you defend yourself, you'll be committing obstruction.

Weak as hell.

Was watching Russell Brand today and he discussed the audio. Have you listened to it? If you did, what do you think about the documents being about plans to start a war with Iran?

From the context of the call and the fact NARA was mad over Kim Jong Un letters, I'm thinking all the documents are ones showing Trump bettering relationships and/or preventing entry to a conflict. Boy those would look good in a Presidential Library.

I didn’t listen to Brand. He’s gone off the deep end of conspiracy theories. Odds that he’ll have RFK Jr. on soon?

You mean NARA was mad regarding nat security docs being illegally kept of which Trump and surrogates have basically admitted to?

Yes.

 You don't want to admit some of those "national security" documents are personal correspondence with Jong Un because you know how ridiculous it is.

Also, you can't just wave away a fact through ad hominem. Trump prevented a war with Iran and NARA wants it's news clippings back.

Agreed, I've never heard the war with Iran conspiracy crap. Heck, I thought we already avoided that when the administration prior to Trump let Iran off the hook and gave them tons of cash we had frozen. Why would we give them all that funding if our intent was to attack them later? That conspiracy theory is even flimsier than most.

So you haven't even listened to the audio, have you?

I also posted a link to NARA testimony in which they are bothered over the Jong Un letters. 27 of them.

Neither is conspiracy. Both are pointing out how ludicrous some, probably a majority, of the narrative really is.

More ludicrous than Trump steadfastly holding onto these things in the first place? Some people pick weird hills to die on, and Trump picked a doozy here.

You do know NARA was created to assist the President and past disputes were settled in civil court?

Amazing how letters to and from Kim Jong Un deserve a special counsel and felony charges. Nothing out of proportion here.

Yes. I provided the link to the transcript in which the NARA employee being questioned, talks about how they wanted those letters. I'm not saying it's everything, but it shows the pettiness of these "national security documents".

Link below is just proof there are letters and the press were calling them love letters.

There is probably no other bilateral relationship today where letter writing between two countries’ leaders has played such a dramatic role as that between North Korea and the United States. The 27 letters exchanged between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and then-U.S. President Donald Trump between April 2018 and August 2019—characterized as “beautiful letters” by Trump—contained tactical feints, unctuous flattery, and psychological ploys that have marked exchanges of leaders of all stripes and stations throughout history. In this case, they also contained the core perceptions and misperceptions of how each thought to move—and move the other—from decades of U.S.-North Korean hostility to something approaching more normal or at least stable relations between their two vastly different countries.

What you're saying is that NARA wanting the letters is "petty" even though you don't know diddly squat about whats in them or what their reasons for wanting them are. You're trying to do too much at once SG, maybe you could cobble together some better bullshit if you weren't so busy simultaneously buffing Trump's taint?

I don't know it and you don't know it either - but people who do this stuff for a living know and you don't seem to be catching the hints - like why is an obsequious bootlicker like Bill Barr no longer on the Trumptrain after years spent in high office as the Most Unctuous Groveling Toady? The reason, son, is that Bill Barr (and Asa Hutchison, and Chris Christie, both also former prosecutors) knows where this is going to end up and he wants to do as much damage control as possible to revise his starring role in promulgating the slime of 45. Happy Independence Day, Comrade SG.
