Drag shows are bad but this is okay?

Base Air Show Featuring Scantily Clad Models Raises Questions About Justification for Drag Show Ban
At Joint Base Lewis-McChord's air show just outside of Tacoma, Washington, this past weekend, onlookers and families saw tactical military jets, high-performance sports cars and risqué models dancing on stage in skintight red, white and blue bikinis, part of what organizers described as a "way to thank the Puget Sound community."

Instagram was flooded with pictures and videos of the models alongside sports cars, on the runway posing in front of cargo planes and in front of hot rods parked inside a hangar. Two dancers were also featured wearing revealing flight suits while dancing on stage. It was all featured in the Air Force's air show event at the base, which was open to the public, with the dancers representing an entertainment company called Hot Import Nights.

In the midst of ongoing controversy over a Pentagon decision to limit drag shows on bases after some critics complained of alleged adult content, the models and the racy musical performances over the weekend raised questions from LGBTQ+ advocates about what criteria Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is using to stop some performances associated with the gay community while allowing other provocative acts.
I won't hold my breath waiting for the outcry from the MAGAt yahoos in Congress. Fvcking self righteous hypocrites!

Ta-Nehisi Coates attends school board meeting to back teacher told to stop using his book on racism
Records from the Lexington-Richland 5 school district indicate officials were worried the assignment could run afoul of a rule in the South Carolina budget banning schools from using state money to teach that anyone is consciously or unconsciously racist simply by their race and preventing lessons from making anyone feel discomfort, guilt or anguish based on their race.

The student complaints on Wood's lesson were sent directly to a school board member instead of to the teacher, Lexington-Richland 5 Superintendent Akil Ross said.
...
Teaching English is about telling stories and students need to be exposed to stories that both relate to themselves and are unfamiliar, said Tess Pratt, the chairwoman of Chapin High School’s English department.
They need to stop teaching AP European History in South Carolina (and probably Florida). The sh!t Europeans did to natives would make anyone with a conscience feel discomfort based on their race.

Why the heck were complaints sent directly to a school board member? That's messed up, they should be handled by the teacher, principal, superintendent. The Board should be there to provide strategic guidance not to get down in nitty gritty, everyday details of running the district, a school or classroom.

Florida Schools Will Teach How Slavery Brought ‘Personal Benefit’ to Black People
After the Florida Board of Education approved new standards for African American history on Wednesday, high school students will be taught an equally distorted message: that a deadly white mob attack against Black residents of Ocoee, Florida, in 1920 included “acts of violence perpetrated against and by African Americans.”

Dozens of Black residents were killed in the massacre, which was perpetrated to stop them from voting.
Talk about whitewashing history.

DeSantis asks state to investigate AB InBev for failing shareholders by pushing ‘radical social ideologies’
"It has come to my attention that the State Board of Administration (SBA) currently holds global equity assets with Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev)," the governor wrote in the Thursday letter. "As you well know, AB InBev's performance has plummeted since its decision to associate its Bud Light brand with radical social ideologies. That fateful decision has transformed America's formerly best-selling beer — and one of InBev's best-performing assets — into a commercial pariah. InBev's losses have been staggering."
If goodman desantis succeeds with this, couldn't someone who holds Florida state municipal bonds do the same thing if bond performance suffers as a result of his pissing match with Disney?

They’re being sent to church, religious schools, group studies, etc. religious instruction should be illegal until they’re 18.

Preachers indoctrinate them while they're diddling them - you want to keep your kids safe, keep them away from churches and the grifters that run them.

Tell that to the MAGAt yahoos who complain that drag shows and books about 2 dads are attempts to groom children.

Religious education is a more overt attempt to “groom” children. You don’t see it as grooming because it’s consistent with your values. Why can’t you respect other people’s values the way you want them to respect yours?

When you can present a compelling case as opposed to one chock full of false equivalency, we can talk. But until then, to compare introducing children to sexual topics well before they are able to fully understand, to religion, garners the derision it deserves.

kalm probably feels the same way about my interpretation of Aldean’s song. :coffee:

Your bias in favor of religion and right wing values prevents you from seeing the similarities.

A book about a child with 2 moms or 2 dads isn’t any more sexual than a book about a child with a mom and a dad.

I’m not against religious education, that’s a parents’ choice. Just like I’m not against a parent taking their child to a drag show or a school having a book about a child with 2 dads (or one about a child growing up under Jim Crow).

What does reading the bible have to do with the price of tea in China?

Yes, there are groomer clergy. Usually the man on boy type.

“When she carried on her whoring so openly and flaunted her nakedness, I turned in disgust from her, as I had turned in disgust from her sister. Yet she increased her whoring, remembering the days of her youth, when she played the whore in the land of Egypt and lusted after her lovers there, whose members were like those of donkeys, and whose issue was like that of horses. Thus you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when the Egyptians handled your bosom and pressed your young breasts.” (Ezekiel 23:18-21)

Ezekiel 23 is referring to Samaria (Oholah) and Jerusalem (Oholibah) whoring themselves to Egypt. They are not real people, but a metaphor.

Which parts involve a metaphor vs. real people events?

Can kids discern the difference.

Forget kids, I know adults who don’t eat shellfish.

The Bible is obviously a groomer book and should be banned.

So you tapped out to save your arguments for debates you might win?

It’s simple, if minors aren’t emotionally or intellectually ready for books about a child with 2 moms (or a child growing up under Jim Crow) then they aren’t ready for the Bible.

You just don’t like it when the MAGAt yahoo arguments against LGBTQ+ are used against religion and religious texts.
