Pennsylvania officials investigating fraudulent voter registration applications in Lancaster CountyDuring an appearance on NBC News' “Meet the Press NOW,” Pennsylvania Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt said incidents like this are “infrequent” and should give people faith that the system works.
Asked who was behind it, Schmidt said, “We understand from the county that there was an outside organization collecting registrations and submitted them right before the voter registration deadline.”

Loser talk. You're going to lose and you know it and you're already making excuses. Trump already has his scapegoat picked out.Bobcat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 1:39 pm Why are Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Arizona all claiming they wont have results on election night like we have had prior to the 2020 election?
Why only battleground states?
Prior to having technology aided election we still managed to get this done by hand counting. Now with technology that can do that in seconds we have to wait days?
Everyone involved in this should be fired today!

Only reason he got caught was because he turned himself in. How many others are out there? And that’s complete baloney that they can’t remove his vote from the totals.

Re: 2024 Another Fraudulent Election
Starting off, I don't believe there is any widespread fraud going on, and, almost all races, especially big national ones, I don't think any fraud that does occur has tilted an election, at least recently (there's plenty of evidence of fraud in elections going back to at least 1960, if not before then - heck, read a biography on LBJ, cheating in releasing vote totals in Texas in the 1940's was very well known). But in modern times, things appear to be much better.
With that said, I don't understand, other than keeping the window open for fraud to happen or to keep something we can argue about, why we don't take very simple steps to make the vote more secure. Mail in voting regardless of need, when we have in person early voting that happens upwards to a month before an election, let along voting on election day, is crazy. Absentee balloting (including elderly and infirmed) and overseas ballots make perfect sense. For anything else, I think it's just ripe for concern. Ballots get lost, ballots get burned (see Oregon), and ballots can certainly be re-routed or tampered with. Putting stuff in the mail is never going to be in the vicinity of control versus in person. It used to be an issue because polling placed were only open on election day, but now, more and more, there are early voting options where you can go, even a month ahead of time, and vote in person. Again, other than true absentees (elderly, infirmed, long term located somewhere else like college or overseas), if you want to vote, you can, and in person options to make it easy exist.
And I've always said that there's no reason why we don't require ID. For most people, drivers license or passport should suffice and most people have at least one of these. For those who don't, make available, free of charge, a voter ID. That should cover everyone else.
Again, we don't have widespread problems with voting, and that's a good thing. But there's no reason why we shouldn't take very easy steps to assuage any fears that there could be any level of fraud in elections. Reducing the amount of mail in voting and requiring ID would go a long way to tightening up what appear to be very loose ends. And for reference, we're almost alone in the Western world with our scope of allowing mail in ballots and not requiring ID.

Well, in NV you had donk St Supreme Ct justices say that mail in ballots with NO POSTMARK can be accepted up to 3 days AFTER election. No logical justification for that except to open the door to cheating.

Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of Donald Trump and cochair of the Republican National Committee, said the RNC's election integrity team had received reports of "thousands of duplicate ballots" in the key swing state which will now no longer be counted.
The wife of the former president's son, Eric Trump, made the remarks on X, formerly Twitter, while sharing an image appearing to show one voter ID being linked to various addresses in Michigan being able to cast a ballot 29 times.

Re: 2024 Another Fraudulent Election
Getting on in years now, but when we moved from our apartment to our current house, my wife updated her address to the house and I just stayed registered at the apartment for that election. When I went to vote, she was still listed as a voter in the rolls in the polling place where we voted from our apartment. Considering that she had also moved recently before that out of Philly, she was likely listed as a valid voter in three different locations for that election. Could she have voted three different times? Certainly didn't try it, but certainly concerning that as of 2002 it was like that. And remember, this was still when PA just had voting machines - you went in, pressed all the buttons for votes, and then hit "vote" and supposedly all the votes were tallied correctly. There was no paper copy of your vote at that time so recounts were impossible to verify (something that Jill Stein's lawsuit in 2016 rectified, so that by 2020, in PA, we were voting with paper so there would be a physical record to actually recount).
The point being, it's not like 2002, nor 2016, were terribly long ago and they weren't times when we didn't have good technology, yet even then there were glaring holes in our election system. And again, going back to at least the 1940's (the LBJ story), and places were purposely waiting to submit their votes until other precincts did so that they could alter their tallies enough to swing elections. Putting a few guards in place to make sure elections are secure, even if you think they're secure now, isn't a bad thing.
Oh, and make these changes well away from an election so that you don't have denizens like Trump latch onto seeming irregularities and casting doubt on elections. To get away from all of that vitriol would seem to be a good reason to do this.
