By the way, Thank you to both Joe and Jill for voting for Donald

But as Carville once said a long time ago, it's the economy, stupid. In the end, the biggest reason for the Democratic rout was the reckless letting loose of inflation and the worst economic performance since the Carter administration.
The economy was definitely #1. Immigration was a solid #2. Bigotry played a role for a small percentage. Was that small percentage enough to make a difference in the battleground states?GannonFan wrote:The narrative that Harris lost because of the persistence of the patriarchy, sexism, racism, and misogyny is simply just wrong (I'm sure those things did exist and did influence some voters). It’s also messaging and media reach. Trump’s proposed policies risk further damage to the middle class and rising inflation. Dems starting abandoning the working class long ago. These chickens are coming home to roost in the form of a thriving economy on paper (see investor class, GDP, stock market) but not when it comes to cost of living and consumer spending.UNI88 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 7:28 amThe economy was definitely #1. I agree in general with this sentiment on a personal basis however our economic system is only partially based in this and it’s typically the mom and pop/independent entrepreneurs who have to practice it most.Caribbean Hen wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 8:48 am The political board is fun, but I have always gone by the concept of if you want to get anywhere you got to do it yourself. No politician is going to do it for you.
We are a spoiled entitled population and those entitlements are not gonna be going anywhere soon because nobody would be elected if they told the truth. The National debt is going to catch up with us sooner or later. Every politician will just try to push that off to the next watch…. Buy gold

Yes, I think we underestimated the stupidity, ignorance, lack of morality, and sensitivity in 50% of the electorate.CID1990 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 8:15 am Hey CS Donks - have you tried talking down to people and calling them Nazis? I heard that wins hearts and minds.
BTW Ganny - you didn’t talk to 93 recently? He called 312 EVs, pop vote, and both House and Senate within 1 about a month ago. He’s of course insufferable now on our chat together with Ivytalk.

Stop trying to whip people into a führer and maybe you’ll find yourself out of the wilderness in 12 or so years.kalm wrote:Yes, I think we underestimated the stupidity, ignorance, lack of morality, and sensitivity in 50% of the electorate.CID1990 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 8:15 am Hey CS Donks - have you tried talking down to people and calling them Nazis? I didn't know you guys have a private chat group - glad to know everyone is still around. And no, I didn't know that 93 predicted that, so congrats to him for his prescience. I certainly didn't predict it so I'm impressed someone else did.CID1990 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 8:15 am Hey CS Donks - have you tried talking down to people and calling them Nazis? not a chance, its the GAME OVER that was the purpose of Citizen's United. Put the gubmint up for sale to the highest bidder and what do ya know - suddenly the world's richest man is the de facto VP and ol' JD is making coffee and fetchin up Big Macs.CID1990 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 8:57 amStop trying to whip people into a führer and maybe you’ll find yourself out of the wilderness in 12 or so years.kalm wrote:

Anyone who is outraged that they called trump a fascist and had no problem with trump calling harris a Marxist, communist, fascist, socialist or vice versa is a snowflake and a hypocrite.CID1990 wrote:Stop trying to whip people into a führer and maybe you’ll find yourself out of the wilderness in 12 or so years.kalm wrote: Yes, I think we underestimated the stupidity, ignorance, lack of morality, and sensitivity in 50% of the electorate.

Calling someone Hitler doesn’t equate to calling someone a Marxist.UNI88 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 9:10 amAnyone who is outraged that they called trump a fascist and had no problem with trump calling harris a Marxist, communist, fascist, socialist or vice versa is a snowflake and a hypocrite.CID1990 wrote: Stop trying to whip people into a führer and maybe you’ll find yourself out of the wilderness in 12 or so years.

And the left took it beyond Trump to his supporters.

I forgot self deceit.
Most everybody whiffed on that one, just like "Russia isn't really going to invade Ukraine" and then "it will be over in three days". At least now we know it will finally be over before Jan. 23GannonFan wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 8:58 amI didn't know you guys have a private chat group - glad to know everyone is still around. Several members here are still FB friends and can corroborate their authenticity. If you developed raging TDS in the few years since I left this site, I unfriended you because you're a cunt and I don't want you polluting my life:
Electoral College: Trump 312-226 (perfect)
Popular vote: Trump (correct)
Senate: 52-48 Republicans (off by 1)
House: 219-216 Republicans (TBD, but currently 217-209)
/93 back out
Might as well buy American, its all going to cost the same anyway? “My portfolio is doing great!”
“I can barely afford eggs and bacon.”
The Dem establishment (the ones securing large dollar donations, calling the policy shots, and selecting candidates to support in primaries) is considered elitist. Right wing media (Fox, Iheartradio, podcasts, Sinclair) has effectively pushed this narrative and the Dems have done little to fight back against this image. Taylor Swift and Springsteen are nice stories but not enough to seriously move the needle.
Too many in the working class are still willing to believe that the prospects of high tariffs, tax cuts for the rich and corporations, massive deportation, and deregulation of everything from finance to public health to domestic oil production will magically trickle down eventually without negative effects to standard of living.
Neither establishment has answers for the working class. The R’s are just better selling their bullshit right now.
