Great and impressive effort by UMASS and had they been able to pull out a victory I wouldn't have restricted my thread title to the "SOUTH" only.Col Hogan wrote:It's now CAA 3 FBS 2, as UMass fell short, losing to K-State 21 - 17SunCoastBlueHen wrote:Congrats to 'nova, William and Mary, and Richmond on big wins vs. FBS opponents this weekend. CAA South 3-1, rest of I-AA by my count 0-29.
I was wrong. I recounted. Outside the CAA South it was 0-34. Heck, overall have already surpasses last season's I-A vs I-AA 85-2. ESPN just had on how last year there was no IAA over BCS wins, and they highlighted already 2 with the W&M & UR wins. Overall this decade I-AA has won about 9%. This weekend 3 of 38 is about 8%. So right about the historical avg.JMU DJ wrote:BDKJMU wrote:

Man you're a Debbie Downer...
Yeah, a lot of FCS teams lost, a lot had decent games and even had great chances of "shakin' up the world" (UNI). Are we (FCS teams) expected to win? No, that's the point. That's why App St beating Michigan still makes ESPN Gameday broadcast. It happens that the only 3 victories... unless I'm mistaken and there are more FCS over FBS victors out there (to which I apologize for my ignorance), all three wins came from the CAA, specifically, the CAA south... the division JMU plays in. Three CAA south teams JMU beat last year. Why not hope for JMU to put on a good performance against a Maryland team that got destroyed tonight?

No, but since there is a clear and definable differentiation between the CAA North and South, this is an asinine question.mainejeff wrote:Is the CAA South a new league???......

Towson got smoked. Northeastern got smoked.
UMass lost by 4 points to arguably the best FBS team that a CAA squad played this weekend.
Maine, UNH, Hofstra and URI haven't played their FBS teams yet.......and neither has Delaware....who by the way, also beat a D-2 team (for the zillionth time)
*yawn*
My point is........go smack on the ACC fans/schools.......not fans/schools in your own conference........d-bag.JMU DJ wrote:mainejeff wrote:

So besides being bitter about eking out a victory over a D-II team in overtime, what's your point?
Yeah, Maine they were impressive getting taken to OT by some Cloud State DII. UNH rolled by 2 TDs over the St Francis school of the deaf and blind.mainejeff wrote:"Clear"????SunCoastBlueHen wrote:

Says the guy from the CAA South school that hasn't played a down of football yet.......BDKJMU wrote:Yeah, Maine they were impressive getting taken to OT by some Cloud State DII. UNH rolled by 2 TDs over the St Francis school of the deaf and blind.
URI- they get props for beating Fordham, picked to finish second in the Patriot. (Course they were picked 1st preseason last yr, and looked what happened.)
Looks like the CAA South will at least match last season's 14-4 over the North in South/North matchups.
I agree with MJ!mainejeff wrote:The CAA South can kiss my *ss.
I do believe I detect a hint of sarcasm there, Jon.dbackjon wrote:Congrats to UD for beating West Chester
FWIW, I wasn't actually speaking to the relative strength of the CAA South vs. the North. I was merely pointing out that since they are two separate sub-divisions within the same conference that there is no foul in making a differentiation between the two. You seemed to have a problem with that, which is asinine, though not surprising.mainejeff wrote:"Clear"????

i agree with mj on this one. The two divisions are nearly identical and I have a picture to prove it...mainejeff wrote:My point is........go smack on the ACC fans/schools.......not fans/schools in your own conference........d-bag.JMU DJ wrote:
