Re: The Ukraine Crisis
Interesting read. Trump keeps saying the Ukraine war would not have happened under his watch, but he sure didn't stop it's progression.

Re: The Ukraine Crisis
‘Enough is enough’: Europe’s leaders are piling pressure on the EU to release $200 billion of frozen Russian assets to fund Ukraine
If the US pulls aid, the EU could use russian funds to help Ukraine defend themselves from russia. The irony would be rich and putin would rage.Leaders from Poland, Estonia, and Finland have in the last week added to growing calls to liquidate Russian central bank reserves, which have been valued between $200 billion and $300 billion.
Russian central bank reserves located in Europe—including currency, gold, and government bonds—were seized as part of wide-ranging sanctions against the country when Russia launched its February 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Did you here? trump has ended the war in Ukraine that biden allowed to happen.
Now that the war is over, any and all deaths from this point forward are trump's fault.

He's at least doing something, unlike Pedo Joe who was fine sending innocent kids to their death to support a proxy war.
Also midwit, Trump has to offer Putin something he doesn't have before Putin will stop. Putin has all the cards right now and has for a LONG time.

Re: The Ukraine Crisis
Ukraine had ZERO leverage and so far it has played out like Putin said it would. He was going to keep everything he took. You can blame Biden for this because Putin offered a peace deal before it even started and then again in the beginning of the SMO.UNI88 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2025 5:01 pmI'm not sure I'd call trying to give away any leverage Ukraine might have "doing something".SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2025 4:54 pm

Re: The Ukraine Crisis
Played out like putin said it would? A couple of days to take Kiev and replace the Ukrainian government or absorb the country? Those were the expectations until putin, trump and MAQA yahoos tried to whitewash history.SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2025 5:20 pmUkraine had ZERO leverage and so far it has played out like Putin said it would. A brilliant negotiator doesn't start negotiations by:
- making concessions (no return of territory, no NATO membership) before negotiations have even started. That's either moronic or proof of favoritism toward russia.
- excluding one of the central parties to the dispute (Ukraine) and a group of parties that will be expected to contribute financially and possibly with manpower to a solution (European nations).

Russia won this war on Joey Rottens miserable watch.
Trump realizes that land is not changing hands now and recognizing that is going a long way to end it. The other option is start WW3 which would require the draft for our coddled and spoiled basement generation

Re: The Ukraine Crisis
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/ ... SApp_OtherMedia reports suggested the draft contained only vague language on security guarantees.
Zelenskyy described the deal as “preliminary”, adding that it was “just a start, a framework, it can be a big success”.
The Ukrainian leader said that if he visited the White House on Friday, he would be “very direct” in asking whether the US would continue supporting Ukraine or not. “If we don’t get security guarantees, we won’t have a ceasefire, nothing will work, nothing,” he said.
Zelenskyy’s comments came after Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, reinforced Moscow’s rejection of the idea of European peacekeeping troops in Ukraine, contradicting Trump’s claims earlier this week that Vladimir Putin supported the presence of western forces on the ground.
“Trump said that a decision on the deployment of peacekeeping forces would only be possible with the consent of both sides, apparently referring to us and Ukraine. Nobody has asked us about this,” Lavrov said.

US votes against condemning Russia for Ukraine war as Trump admin chases peace deal

Being on the same side as russia, belarus and north korea is the place to be ...The United States voted against a United Nations resolution laying blame on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine and demanding Moscow remove its troops from Ukrainian territory, as the Trump administration is chasing a peace deal between both sides.
Russia and North Korea joined the U.S. in voting against the Europe-backed Ukrainian resolution, which cleared the General Assembly by 93-18 with 65 abstentions.

They need to be a part of the process and territorial concessions and NATO membership are chits that should be used not given away.
