I agree with this ...
"And then offending most people in the country, calling everybody sexist and racist and transphobic and every other name, and then saying, ‘please follow us.’ That’s not a good strategy, folks. Defending a broken status quo and offending most of the country, turns out, is not as popular as my party thought it was going to be. And so it’s going to take a while for people to get it figured out," Jones added.
The interesting part about this ...
The party continued to face low approval ratings after Democratic Rep. Al Green caused controversy for shouting and interrupting President Donald Trump during his address to Congress on Tuesday. A CNN instant poll found that 80% of respondents thought Green’s behavior was inappropriate
Is that marge, Beattlejuice, etc. have behaved just as poorly but gotten away with it because they've normalized inappropriate behavior for MAQA yahoos.

Well, in Green's defense, I'm pretty sure he went further than anyone has so far in terms of interrupting a speech like that. Most of the MAGA folks resorted to occasional shouting, nothing standing up and sustained like Green did.

He was polling 10+ ahead of Trump in 2016 the week before the election. He’s just a modern day FDR. A true populist with policy ideas that support the middle class. Too bad he’s so old.
Well, considering the Dems punted him to the sidelines in both 2016 and 2020 (the party elite turned on him in 2016 and then did so again by telling everyone else to leave the race and support Biden's basement campaign in 2020) I don't really have a lot of hope for Bernie sticking around this time either. Maybe he's just looking for another financial kickback from the party when he steps aside again? Maybe a 3rd lakefront house is on the way? He's never really shown any appetite to stay and fight, and that was when he was 10 years younger than he is now.
Thats why I called him Burnme Sanders

Except it wasn't. He yelled at him and waved a cane. It's okay to just say that. If that constituted assault you could likely make any confrontation assault. I know it's hard for you, but be better.

Do you call MGR88 dimwitted when he tries to make Jan 6th relevant? 99% of those guys didnt have weapons and just wandered around the capital.

This guy has a club lunges forward towards the sitting president of the USA. We know the left is violent and wants Trump killed and it sure looks like this was the intent Green had, luckily they saved the president from further harm. This marks the 4th attempt on Trumps life by the left.

When will you take them seriously?

Schumer caves..
Dem heard screaming at colleagues despite Schumer’s unity claim as shutdown looms

Press heard who they believed to be Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., screaming inside Democratic senators' private lunch on Thursday amid ongoing debate over the looming government shutdown….

…. Senate Democrats are in disagreement over how to proceed on the House-passed stopgap spending bill to avert a government shutdown, with some inclined to help advance it and others apparently willing to risk a lapse in funding.

"They’ve been debating what to do, and there’s been people who feel strongly on both sides," a Democratic source familiar told Fox News Digital, in reference to several lengthy Senate Democratic caucus meetings in the past couple days.

As of Thursday afternoon, multiple lawmakers, including Sens. Mark Warner, D-Va., and Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., posted videos to inform social media that they were voting against the short-term spending bill, or continuing resolution (CR).

"I've seen the videos that they're going to shut it down," Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., a staunch advocate of keeping the government open, told reporters.

"I'm like, that's spicy. Spicy, I don't know," he said sarcastically. "I don't know if they'll do it or not."

According to Fetterman, "Any party should never shut the government down."

He said it would be "a gift for the Republicans" for Democrats to block the House-passed CR. "In fact, if anything, I think, they're effectively daring us to do that."

The Pennsylvania Democrat further criticized his colleagues, recalling, "It wasn't that long ago before we were lecturing that you can never shut the government down. So that's kind of inconsistent."

"We can all agree that it's not a great CR, but that's where we are and that's the choice."

Warner defended himself to reporters Thursday, explaining there are "no good choices."

Asked if he thought a shutdown would be better for his constituents in Virginia, he said, "I'm saying both are awful."

Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., who serves a state won by President Donald Trump, said he hasn't "made a decision" on the House's short-term spending bill.

He claimed the bill has "significant problems," also noting he is concerned "things could actually get worse" due to the CR, in reference to the administration's collaboration with Elon Musk.

"I also recognize that government shutdowns are not good," Kelly added.

Shortly afterward, Kelly shared a post on X, revealing he won't support the spending bill. "I cannot vote for the Republican plan to give unchecked power to Donald Trump and Elon Musk. I told Arizonans I’d stand up when it was right for our state and our country, and this is one of those moments," the post read.

"Our caucus is unified on a clean April 11 CR that will keep the government open and give Congress time to negotiate bipartisan legislation that can pass. We should vote on that," Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said in floor remarks on Wednesday.

Fetterman claps back at Ocasio-Cortez on government funding vote

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.), who announced days ago that he would vote for a House-passed funding bill to avoid a government shutdown, said he doesn’t care about firebrand Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-N.Y.) harsh criticism of Democratic senators who will vote to advance the controversial bill.

Fetterman said Ocasio-Cortez and other liberal lawmakers who are calling for the Senate to block the bill, which would fund government through Sept. 30, don’t have a viable exit strategy for ending a government shutdown.

And he says it’s easy for House liberals to take potshots at the Senate when members of Congress would continue to receive paychecks during a shutdown while tens of thousands of federal workers would be furloughed without pay, possibly for weeks.

“I hope you can relay how little I care about her views on this,” Fetterman said when asked about Ocasio-Cortez’s comments that Senate Democrats who vote to advance the bill are betraying their Democratic House colleagues.

“I’m going to stand on what I happen to believe is the right thing to do but ask her, ‘What’s the exit plan once we shut the government down?’ What about all the millions of Americans who are going to have their lives damaged?” he asked.

“What about the ones that won’t have any paycheck? She’ll have her paycheck, though,” he said.

“If we’re worried about Musk going to shut down the government or damage the government, we have the power to do the one thing that [President] Trump and [Elon] Musk can’t do, shut it down,” he asserted.

Ocasio-Cortez told reporters Thursday that many Democrats felt a “deep sense of outrage and betrayal” over Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer’s (N.Y.) announcement that he would vote to advance the House-passed funding package.

Schumer acknowledged it was a “bad bill” but warned that allowing the government to shut down would be far worse.

But Ocasio-Cortez, who has not ruled out running for Schumer’s seat in 2028, argued that Senate Democrats who vote for the bill will betray the House Democrats representing districts that Trump won who voted against the bill.

“There are members of Congress who have won Trump-held districts in some of the most difficult territory in the United States, who walked the plan and took innumerable risks in order to defend the American people,” she said.“I think it is a huge slap in the face,” she added.
Fetterman said he’s not worried.

“Whatever her views, I’m going to sleep just fine,” he said.

The town hall meetings tell the real story. Both parties have pissed off bases - Repunklican congresspeople are no-showing their pwn town hall meetings - thats why the leadership of both parties want to keep the focus on the left/right divide: to keep our attention off of the up/down divide. :coffee:
