Some influencers on social media rushed to proclaim this a victory for the White House, suggesting that American plans to absorb the territory had come to fruition. Several, who I won't name and shame here, even claimed the "pro-USA party" had come out victorious. But while that's good for clicks, we should probably ask whether that's true, so I did a bit of research.

For starters, it should be noted that all but one political party in Greenland favors independence, including the current ruling socialist party. That is not the differentiating factor it may seem to be when you just read the headlines that a "pro-independence" party won. The Democrats are actually more cautious about the matter than others, favoring becoming part of the Eurozone, not the United States. Further, the party's leaders have directly criticized Trump's approach to Greenland.

CEOs say they are losing faith in Trump: ‘I don’t trust that what’s said today will be true tomorrow’
How quickly CEO optimism has turned. I’m just back from the Yale CEO Caucus in Washington, where 100 CEOs gathered with 60 big-city mayors, policymakers, and journalists like me to talk off the record about “navigating Trump 2.0.” Gone is the optimistic dream of economic growth spurred by Trump’s pro-business mindset around taxes and regulation. In its place is the grave uncertainty of not knowing what this administration will do next. As the host, Yale professor Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, noted afterward, the consensus was one of bewilderment, condemnation and a feeling that “Trump’s policies were bad for the U.S. economy.”
...
Opportunity costs – America is in a sweet spot when it comes to the depth of our technology, research institutions and capital markets—not to mention our rule of law and ability to draw top talent. Everyone wanted to come here to do business with the most vigorous economy on earth. CEOs I spoke to worry that we’re getting distracted by paper enemies.

Talent challenges – To address a skills shortage, you invest in education. Instead, we’re cutting funding in the name of DOGE and allegations of antisemitism. CEOs now face having to try and create more jobs with fewer tools to train the people to fill them.

1). Ironic for R’s to condemn a lack of legislative policy when Musk is setting policy outside of the legislative process, without oversight or checks on abuse. The courts so far are agreeing with me on this. And WTF are the policies that the the R held house accomplished over the previous two years?

2). But it’s true they are just paid actors. The part he leaves out is that applies to the entire Congress and they’re being paid by donors in what amounts to legalized bribery. A process enabled by irrational and constitution hating SCOTUS’s going back Buckley v. Valeo and First National Bank of Boston vs. Buckley.

3). Dem establishment pushback has indeed been abysmal but there are a few rays of light. Like Ro Khana, Bernie, Mark Pokane hosting town halls in red districts where R representatives are too pussified to do it.

Or this guy…

Maybe this is why they’re giving up on using Guantanamo.
CNN

The Trump administration is expected to invoke a sweeping wartime authority to speed up the president’s mass deportation pledge in the coming days, according to four sources familiar with the discussions.

The little-known 18th-century law, the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, gives the president tremendous authority to target and remove undocumented immigrants, though legal experts have argued it would face an uphill battle in court.

CNN previously reported that the authority was being widely discussed at several agencies as administration officials prepared to implement the law. The primary target remains Tren de Aragua (TDA), a Venezuelan organized crime group that is now operating in the United States and other countries.

Wall Street tumbles 10% below its record for first 'correction' since 2023 on Trump's trade war
Wall Street’s sell-off hit a new low Thursday after President Donald Trump’s escalating trade war dragged the S&P 500 more than 10% below its record, which was set just last month.

A 10% drop is a big enough deal that professional investors have a name for it — a “correction” — and the S&P 500’s 1.4% slide on Thursday sent the index to its first since 2023. The losses came after Trump upped the stakes in his trade war by threatening huge taxes on European wines and alcohol. Not even a double-shot of good news on the U.S. economy could stop the bleeding.

COPENHAGEN, March 14 (Reuters) - The United States has reached out to Denmark and other European nations asking if they can export eggs as Americans face surging egg prices, the Nordic country's egg association said on Friday.

The request from the U.S. Department of Agriculture coincides with a raft of new U.S. tariffs on countries, including in Europe, and the threat of more. President Donald Trump has also threatened economic sanctions unless Denmark hands over control of Greenland to the United States.
