Family calls for release of woman legally in U.S. for 50 years and now detained by ICE
After a University of Washington lab technician and green card holder was recently detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, her family is speaking out.

Lewelyn Dixon, 64, who’s had legal permanent status in the U.S. for 50 years, was arrested at the airport in Seattle and placed into ICE custody after coming back from a trip to her native Philippines in late February.
...
Dixon’s attorney, Benjamin Osorio, said that U.S. Customs and Border Protection likely spotted a decades-old embezzlement conviction on her record upon her return, which prompted the detention. Dixon, who pleaded guilty to the nonviolent offense in 2000, was ordered to pay restitution and spend 30 days in a halfway house, court documents show. In 2019, she finished paying restitution.
She's served her time and paid her restitution.

U.S. sent Venezuelan man with pending political asylum case to El Salvador mega prison
Frengel Reyes Mota was supposed to be dealing with his ongoing asylum case as he fought for his chance to stay in the United States. Suddenly, he instead found himself locked up in a mega prison thousands of miles away.

“He’s in the torture prison in El Salvador,” Mark Prada, Reyes Mota’s lawyer, told Immigration Judge Jorge Pereira during a hearing on Monday at the Krome Detention Center in western Miami-Dade County. The hearing had been scheduled before Reyes Mota was sent out of the country.

Reyes Mota is among the hundreds of Venezuelans that the Trump administration deported earlier this month through the use of extraordinary wartime powers based on a 1798 law. The administration sent them to the Terrorism Confinement Center in El Salvador, claiming they are members of the notorious Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

But the 24-year-old father does not have a criminal record in Venezuela. His U.S. immigration detention records are riddled with mistakes, raising questions about how reliable they are. He does not have tattoos and his family members deny he has any gang ties.

“He’s not a gang member, judge,” Prada said.

Had Reyes Mota still been in the United States, the hearing related to his asylum request would have been a commonplace matter. But his absence showcases the remarkable nature of the Venezuelans’ deportation to El Salvador. As lawyers argue the deportation flights were unlawful and violated a federal judge’s order, the immigration court system is navigating the case of an asylum seeker with pending immigration proceedings whom the Trump administration flew to another country without due process.

“We are facing a novel and extremely concerning situation where people’s immigration court proceedings are still pending but they are being disappeared from the United States without any lawful removal order,” said Prada. “This is an affront to the rule of law.”

Video shows Tufts graduate student grabbed off the street by federal immigration officials
Federal authorities detained a Tufts University graduate student Tuesday while she was on her way to break her Ramadan fast with friends, her lawyer said, and the moment was caught on video.

Department of Homeland Security agents apprehended Rumeysa Ozturk, a Turkish national who was maintaining a valid F-1 student visa as a doctoral student, near her home, her attorney, Mahsa Khanbabai, said in a statement.

"It was only late Wednesday evening that I learned that she was sent to Louisiana, despite a federal court order that she not be removed from the state," Khanbabai said in an email early Thursday.
The trump regime appears to be shitting all over the Constitution.

The last photo is pete hegseth. If tattoos are an indicator of gang membership, what's he doing in the trump regime?

This is a problem but all those vacations and gifts that alito and thomas received are no big deal?

What will we find if we look into the lives and connections of Judges Campbell Barker, Sean Jordan, Mark Pittman, etc.

eloon is a hypocrite if aileen cannon and other judges ties to and/or contributions to Republicans don't cause him equal concern.

Nice of you to leave off Judge Merchan, the poster child for conflict of interest. Besides the judge making donation to both donk campaigns, and several lefty groups (one literally called ‘Stop Republicans‘), his daughter is the president of a prolific donk fundraising company, who has rubbed elbows with some of the donk elite in DC.

I just listed judges based in Texas and appointed by trump who’ve ruled against biden’s executive orders (what would MAQA yahoos have done if their rulings only applied to their district and biden had been able to proceed with his orders in other districts?).

If any judge that rules against trump is a left wing activist judge then any judge that rules for him is a right wing activist judge.

When the number of "legal" immigrants in the US that are deported illegally reaches 1 million, then I will care.

I don't cater to the minority and we shouldn't either. The reason these people are going through this is because of the problem Biden created. Its getting cleaned up but youre gonna crack some eggs doing it. Not our problem. Get rid of all of them then fix the 20 or 30 that were screwed up

Trump Is Trying to Deport a Purple Heart Veteran. You Could Be Next
Barco came to the U.S. at the age of four. He enlisted in the Army and served in Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment — the kind of unit that saw the worst of Iraq during the height of the insurgency. In 2004, he earned a Purple Heart after an explosion launched him through the air and into a wall, leaving him with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and severe burns. He was later diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). TBI and PTSD are the very conditions that Trump, through the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), is neglecting by slashing critical mental health services and eliminating over 80,000 jobs at the VA.

While serving, Barco tried to file for citizenship. His commanding officer helped him complete the application. Then it vanished. No chain of custody. No record. A lost folder with a soldier’s future inside it. What should’ve been a straightforward path to naturalization became an invisible trap door leading to exile.

When he returned stateside, Barco’s untreated brain trauma turned to instability. He committed a violent crime in 2008. He fired a random shot, which he says he doesn’t recall, into a group of people and injured a pregnant teen. He paid for it with 15 years of his life behind bars for attempted murder. His sentence was reduced for good behavior, and he was granted his release after his first parole hearing.

Barco was honorably discharged. He was diagnosed with serious physical and mental injuries. He was promised a path to citizenship. And yet, immediately after his release from prison in January, ICE scooped him up and put on a plane to Venezuela — a country he hasn’t seen since he was a toddler and which refused to accept him.

Yep. They deported back to El Salvador.
-illegal immigrant from El Salvador,
-member of a terrorist organization (MS-13)
-that immigration courts twice had prior ordered deported
The district court judge can pound sand.
The thing is, no one has proven, or even tried to show in court to prove it, that he's a member of MS-13. There's been zero evidence produced to even try to prove that. That's the thing that had to happen to supersede the withholding of removal order and make it allowable to send him back to El Salvador. The government is just wrong here and should be held accountable. Whether this guy in question is a good guy or not, the government should've followed the law and due process before shipping him off, and they didn't do that.

They deprived him (and others) of his right to due process and they should be held liable for it.

If they'll do it to him, how do we know they won't try and do it to a US citizen in the future? The argument that they won't because it's clearly illegal doesn't hold water because the trump regime has shown a blatant disregard for our laws and trump is already talking about that possibility.

The being an illegal immigrant AND shooting a pregnant woman might override that.

You're missing the other thing that was undisputed - the deportation orders were suspended. That's what the withdraw removal was, it was the court putting a hold on the deportation orders.

I think the judicial order only prevented him from being deported to El Salvador. Another country likely would have been fine (except for the whole denial of due process thingy).
