I don't think Biden pushed for a war. Biden's biggest blunder here was not deterring Putin from invading in the first place. There was gobs of time in the buildup to this, this didn't happen overnight. What didn't work was diplomacy from the US side to give Putin pause enough not to launch this attack. People will argue too that the chaotic Afghanistan withdraw, also under Biden, undercut our ability to project deterrence.SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 6:18 pmExactly. The way I remember it, everybody, and I mean everybody, right down to the people in the coffee shops in Kyiv, was still calling it sabre rattling right up until tanks crossed the borderGannonFan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 15, 2025 7:08 amI don't think Biden pushed for a war. Re: The Ukraine Crisis
I don't necessarily disagree, but then again, the President of the US isn't really everybody. He's got access to a lot more information than anyone in a Kyiv coffee shop would. It comes with the job, and I'm sure it's not an easy one, but he was certainly trying to diplomatically keep Putin from invading Ukraine and in the end wasn't successful. None of this absolves Putin from doing what he did, but this was also far from Biden's finest hour, assuming he had one.houndawg wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 11:46 amThe way I remember it, everybody, and I mean everybody, right down to the people in the coffee shops in Kyiv, was still calling it sabre rattling right up until tanks crossed the borderGannonFan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 15, 2025 7:08 am

That wasn't helpful, but we still could've done more to deter Putin had we been cognizant of the fact that the Afghanistan withdraw did indeed impact the way other countries perceived us and our trustworthiness. We pretended that it didn't, though, and it undermined our diplomacy, to Ukraine's, and the world's, detriment.Caribbean Hen wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 12:35 pm The invasion got the big green light when Putin was watching JoBozos horrible withdrawal from Afghanistan

The sad thing is, other than 14 military members getting blown up, Biden probably doesn’t know shit about what happened in Afghanistan. An autopen stooge propped up on stage by the incompetent radicals … horrible 4 yearsGannonFan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 1:17 pmThat wasn't helpful, but we still could've done more to deter Putin had we been cognizant of the fact that the Afghanistan withdraw did indeed impact the way other countries perceived us and our trustworthiness. Good question here which applies to all of MAGA incuding a few on this board.

The Ukraine Crisis
That approach applies just as well when someone brags that:
- “No one is more conservative than me.”
- “No one respects women more than me."
- "No one reads the Bible more than me.”
- “There’s nobody that’s done so much for equality as I have.”
- “There’s nobody who feels more strongly about women’s health issues.”
- “Nobody knows more about taxes than me, maybe in the history of the world.”
- “Nobody’s ever been more successful than me."
- “Nobody knows banking better than I do.”
- “Nobody’s bigger or better at the military I am.”
- “I am the least racist person you’ll ever meet.”
- “Nobody knows the system better than me.”
- “Nobody knows more about trade than me.”
