Democrats better hope Michigan Gov. Whitmer changes her mind about presidential run

She's a successful purple-state governor (an Impact Research poll out this week puts her approval rating at a whopping 63%) with decades of legislative, policymaking and executive experience. She speaks with intelligence and sensitivity on subjects from manufacturing to motherhood. She’s got a knack for focusing on substantive issues that offer common ground, like funding our schools and fixing our roads.

At 53, she's youthful and energetic ― but seasoned and experienced ― in a party with a surfeit of octogenarians, and she's a woman in a party whose voters, at times, seem disinclined toward white male candidates, at least at the state and congressional levels.

Whitmer is an effective advocate for the causes she champions, and, as a mom who seemed to effortlessly balance raising two daughters, now grown, and leading the 10th most populous state in the nation, she's an aspirational figure for thousands of Michigan women who can't remember if they put money in their kid's school lunch account. (OK, it's me. I'm Michigan women.)

Whitmer was elected and re-elected by wide margins, and her approval rating has never dipped below 50%, which is, in these sorry times, a real achievement.

"She is a superb retail politician, and a really unique one," said pollster Richard Czuba of the Glengariff Group. "You watch her work a rope line, and she makes everyone feel seen. And she comes from a state that’s a must-win for a Democrat."

American voters like centrists — and Whitmer does what voters expect
There's no denying that her willingness to work with President Donald Trump has disappointed some Democrats who would prefer blanket opposition to hopeful collaboration.

That centrist thing, Czuba said, is really only a problem for the far flanks of both parties ― and they're not the swing voters who decide elections, in Michigan or in the U.S.

No need for me to take a ride with my local PD, I had a meeting with my Chief of Police, Fire Chief, Mayor and other city representatives last night. I helped to get a levy passed last year to provide additional funding for police and fire.

I back the blue at home and all the way to the US Capitol.

I try to be consistent rather than twisting myself into logical pretzels trying to justify my support based on the unhinged whims of a false god.

Dismantling? No.

Strategic cuts of waste are fine but what we’re seeing is literally killing people and lessening or influence around the globe.

It’s cute you buy in 100 though.

You need to pick up a copy of this or listen to one of his recent interviews regarding what government workers actually do. You’ll be shocked.

Well one thing you don‘t do trying to figure out how to woo the working classing class is have a large gathering of rich people st a Ritz Carlton eating among all those fancy foods listed like ‘short-rib tostones‘ (I don‘t even know what that is) while sipping champagne. You go to say a Best Western resort and eat hamburgers and hot dogs while drinking domestic beer.

I hope she runs too, so the donks can go O for three with the ‘First Woman President‘. The last 5 elections the donks have gone 3-0 with men, and 0-2 with women. In 2028 it will have been 24 years since a male donk lost: They aren‘t going to nominate a woman for 2028.

 Pushing McDonalds coffee over Starbucks is laughable. Brewing coffee at home is much cheaper and better than either.

Smoking weed where it's legal should have the same restrictions as smoking nicotine (not inside public places, not near building entrances, exits, etc.). If you can't smoke weed where others can smell it then you shouldn't be able to chew tobacco where others can see you spit it either.

If I have to smell smoke, I prefer cigar, then weed with nicotine cigarettes a distant third.

Use to get Black Rifle for about a year. Last year I have been getting Crockett Coffee (founded by Clay Travis, Buck Sexton and Mason Sexton).

IDGAF if it is, or isn’t. The smell is WAY stronger than cigarettes and cigars, smells like shit, and makes me want to vomit. I DGAF if people smoke it, but it should be where others can‘t smell it.

I bet you it isn‘t if you adjust for race. Or conk voters vs donk voters.
 Pushing McDonalds coffee over Starbucks is laughable. Brewing coffee at home is much cheaper and better than either.

Apples to oranges. Seeing Someone spitting to tobacco doesn‘t affect you unless you can smell it (you have to be really close, anything smoked will smell way more) or they had no spit cup, and were spitting onto the ground where you had to walk. But if they are doing into a spit cup or where you‘re not walking it doesn‘t affect you.

As opposed to non nicotine cigarettes?

Agree on cigars. I never smoked cigarettes as a habit. I was a bouncer back in the late 90s back when you could smoke in bars (at least in VA) and the cigarette smoke didn’t bother me. Weed smoke is WAY STRONGER and more pungent that cigarette (or cigar). It’s not even close.

Some hints for MAGA:

Visit a library. Read a book. Any book for starters. Just form a habit of reading.

Apply critical thinking skills to all news consumption. Your favorite Twitter follows and Fox are propaganda.

Be grateful for what you have and be kind to others.

Sure…but you also should adjust for family wealth they’re born into. Regardless, we all benefit from a social safety net.
