Cockroaches?

Yes…dehumanizing and scapegoating a group of people is one the first steps in the playbook.

No. Deplorable isn’t dehumanizing. It’s a description of human behavior. While being a dumb thing to say as a candidate back then, it ended up being honest and accurate.

The family of an 82-year-old Chilean national feared he was dead for weeks before discovering that he had been detained by ICE after he misplaced his green card, according to a report.

Relatives last saw Luis Leon, who lives in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on June 20, when he and his wife visited the Philadelphia immigration office to replace his lost green card, The Morning Call first reported.

There, officers handcuffed him and took him away without explanation, relatives told the outlet. His family was left scrambling, contacting immigration offices, hospitals and even a morgue for more information on Leon’s whereabouts.

Then, on July 9, Leon’s wife received a call that seemed to confirm the family’s worst fears; the caller claimed the 82-year-old had died.

Thankfully, this week, his family members learned that Leon had been moved from a detention facility in Minnesota to Guatemala. He’s now in a hospital in Guatemala City, the outlet reported. The Independent has reached out to ICE for more information.

This same UK ‘The Independent’ link to this Hoax story from the Allentown, PA outlet has already been covered in the other thread. There’s a reason that the MSM isn’t all over this and has quietly dropped it.

Leon was granted political asylum in 1987 after surviving Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet’s regime, the outlet reported. He has a clean record — and hasn’t even been given so much as a parking ticket, the family claimed.
Sounds like QUNI88 posting some FAKE NEWS.
According to family members, who are the entirety of the sourcing on this, Luis Leon and his wife were allegedly arrested by ICE while the former was trying to replace his green card. Both were taken to a detention facility "without explanation." After 10 hours, the wife was released, but Leon, who gained asylum in 1987, was kept in custody. That's where the first oddity in this story emerges. Family members talking to the press first claimed he had died in custody. Now, though, they are saying he is at a hospital in Guatemala….

….First and foremost, was Luis Leon ever even arrested by ICE? As of now, his name does not appear in any of their databases, which would be unusual. Secondly, if he was, was his immigration status as in order as the family is saying? As far as I can tell, no one has really dug into that yet, so major questions remain. Was his green card valid? Was there another extenuating circumstance at play? We simply don't know at this point, despite the enthusiasm of the press to speak with such certainty about the situation.

With that said, the biggest twist in this story took place on Sunday. Guatemalan authorities put out a statement denying that Luis Leon entered their country, saying no one of his name or age range matches any entries. Further, they confirmed no person of Chilean nationality has been deported to Guatemala either.

So, is he in Guatemala or not? There's no evidence to say he is, and you'd think the authorities there would have no problem locating him if he had been officially deported there and had been put in a hospital. Deportation flights are highly standardized. It's not like ICE just flies deportees in unannounced and dumps them on the street. They are processed by the receiving government.

Further, Luis Leon's granddaughter told the press he's in Guatemala recovering from pneumonia, but that he has "no plans" to return to the United States. Wait, what? So he's from Chile and has been in America legally for nearly 40 years, but he's just going to stay in Guatemala? That's a little too convenient, given the seriousness of the accusation.

Lastly, a lot of the details provided by the family do not add up. Nicolette Glazer, an immigration lawyer, explained in a recent social media thread how many of their claims are factually incorrect. It's too much to copy and paste here, but click below and read through all the inconsistencies she notes regarding how the immigration system actually works…..

So Leon's story is about as accurate as DOGE's numbers on government savings. Sorry. We all get some things wrong. Some of us are man enough to admit to admit it.

You can still describe behavior by group without dehumanizing. Was she describing the entire right? Did you think she was suggesting they be rounded up or was she just criticizing them. Do you step on a deplorable and squash it like it a cockroach? Do you think MAGA has not proven her right?

…. Fifty-nine percent of Democrats who took the poll were in support of a theoretical government policy which would confine those who have not been vaccinated to their own homes unless it was an emergency. Overall, sixty-one percent of all respondents were against the policy.

Almost half of Democrats who voted in the poll think state and federal governments should be allowed to either fine or imprison those who publicly question COVID-19 vaccine efficacy.

Forty-eight percent of Democrats taking the poll were in support of the criminal punishment of vaccine critics, whether the criticism appeared on television, radio, or even on social media. Overall, only twenty-seven percent of all respondents were in support of the punishment.

The poll also reportedly says it answers just how far Democrats are willing to go to punish those refusing to get the vaccine. Forty-five percent of Democrats who took the poll were in favor of the government forcing people who refuse the vaccine to live in designated facilities or locations. Twenty-nine percent of Democrats who took the poll reportedly say they would be in support of parents who are against getting vaccinated losing custody of their children.

Two-thirds of Democrat respondents to the poll were in support of the government using digital devices to track the unvaccinated to ensure they socially distance and remain properly quarantined.
