Some of em' are just too easy.
And as far as UNI goes, I'm sure it's loud and you guys can have the self proclaimed loudest stadium. We'll stick with what the teams coaches from your own conference say though if that's cool with you. SIU's, SDSU's, WIU's, and I can't find it but I think even your own coach made a comment in 2001 about it.

No way the UNI dome is loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage. You were lied to.clenz wrote:I've been told that UNI has hit about 130-140 on the decibel scale. That would put in in this range
Sandblasting, Loud Rock Concert 115dB
Pain begins 125dB
Pneumatic riveter at 4' 125dB
Even short term exposure can cause permanent damage - Loudest recommended exposure WITH hearing protection 140dB
Jet engine at 100', Gun Blast 140dB
However, like Jay said, it helps we have a metal roof and that for some reason are fans don't give a damn for most of the game.

Re: Loudest stadium, Montana??
If Polsongrizz is at a game in Washington/Grizzly Stadium, and its a relatively good/exciting/close game, and he's interested...there isn't a stadium/venue in the country that can possibly be louder!!!
If you don't believe me, ask those that have had a beer with him at any number of drinkin' places in Missoula...
Before our first game of this season, Pols, Griz Chick, Cleets, Ursus, Mr. T., and myself met up at Paradise Falls in Missoula to shoot the shit, have some grub, drink some beer, talk about football, and some of the posters on CS.com. It was business as usual, until the party was cut short!
I had to take Ursus to the Community Hospital ER! Apparently, he was sitting a bit too close to Pols!
I submit this ER photo of Ursus for review:
After that "event", I'm even more thankful that this message board is visual, and not audio based. If it was audio based, we wouldn't be...no pun intended..."hearing" from Ursus for a very long time, and that WOULD be a loss!!!

Black Falkin, I know that and I was trying to draw the picture for some of the UNI fans that those in the know like yourself, and others constantly say the same thing and yet they like to talk about the dome and the loudness that brings. I wasn't trying to dig about a loss.BlackFalkin wrote:I think Ive been there before guy... heartbreak loss, playoff defeat.... garage door tunnel...Ursus A. Re: Loudest stadium, Montana??
My two cents on this one.
When I was in ROTC, we did color guard for one of the playoff games (SF Austin), and I couldn't believe how loud it was on the field after the national anthem. Of course everyone was fired up for that freezing ass game, but I had to yell almost as loud as I could just to get the end guy of the formation (4 people) to hear my marching orders.
That stadium is just designed to be loud.

Re: Loudest stadium, Montana??
For the record, I've never claimed that UNI was louder than Montana, as I've never been to Wa-Griz. I'm just saying that the Dome CAN get quite loud at times.FargoBison wrote:You don't have to say sorry, SDSU's coach Stig said that Montana was the loudest stadium he has been to and NDSU is second(that includes Iowa State and UNI).
UNI would probably be really loud if they had endzone seating, but they don't. They were loud at times during the NDSU game but I wasn't all that impressed with the Panther fanbase that game. No offense to UNI but I thought they would have had a bigger crowd there.
And I was disappointed in the Panther fanbase that game too. There should have been more than 13,400 there. Even if you guys were coming in 3-3 (and 1-2 in conference).
Going on average noise, I don't think UNI is loudest. There are too many old fogeys that don't cheer, and too many students who just come to the game to socialize instead of cheering for the team.

We get the huge crowds when we play good teams.FargoBison wrote:You don't have to say sorry, SDSU's coach Stig said that Montana was the loudest stadium he has been to and NDSU is second(that includes Iowa State and UNI).Willie wrote: I'd like to see decibel readings for both and compare. And Montana just set a stadium record for Western Friggin' State.

The dome has been recorded there for peaks, but it doesn't stay there. Like another Griz poster said, there's no way in HELL there were more people at that game than for Griz/Cat last year. Lots of empty seats in the south endzone and elsewhere.AZGrizFan wrote:DJH wrote:

Re: Loudest stadium, Montana??
According to ESPN's College Football Live Thursday June 4, 2009 Autzen's 127.2db is the loudest recorded college football crowd. Even ESPN does not recognize the 130.2 that ESPN recorded at Husky Stadium, nor the unsupported 132.8 spoken of below at Death Valley. Oregon's Autzen Stadium is the loudest at 127.2 db, recorded on October 27, 2007 USC at Oregon.

Yes there were empty seats but it was very warm at the start of the game and down right hot later. Lots of people walking around, in shade, bathrooms concessions and many just plain left early.Grizalltheway wrote:Like another Griz poster said, there's no way in HELL there were more people at that game than for Griz/Cat last year. I don't know how people think they can see the stadium briefly on TV or even scan it if they are there and dispute attendance figures or even why it would matter! Beyond me I guess!

I was at that game, had seats in one of the front rows around the 20 yard line on the South side of the stadium. I can tell you, with absolute certainty it was not as loud as a Griz game.hank scorpio wrote: Oregon's Autzen Stadium is the loudest at 127.2 db, recorded on October 27, 2007 USC at Oregon.

What? A stadium twice the size, and its not as loud? I'm throwing the BS flag on that one.zootown rox wrote:I was at that game, had seats in one of the front rows around the 20 yard line on the South side of the stadium. It happens. Michigan, the biggest football stadium in America, is notoriously quiet because of the shape of it. I've been told you would never know there was about 110K there from the noise. Hopefully those new boxes they put in will help trap sound.DJH wrote:What? A stadium twice the size, and its not as loud? I'm throwing the BS flag on that one.zootown rox wrote:

Re: Loudest stadium, Montana??
HAHAHA. That ol' chestnut again huh? Autzen has the record it would appear but WaGriz is louder than many, many stadiums that are much bigger so that is faulty reasoning. Go read what the ODU coach said in his piece on it. FWIW I wasn't at the game in question but I've been in Autzen a couple of times and it was not as loud as WaGriz is during the playoffs, Griz/Cat, and other big games.DJH wrote:What? Pick up your BS flag as you through it without knowing what you're talking about.
