There are people alive today who grew up during the America First movement.

There are some on the right who embrace right wing, nationalistic, autocracy (aka fascism) including the current president. They don’t hide it. They celebrate it.

And that's why jumping ahead to calling them Nazi's goes too far. That was a very specific kind of fascism, and it included world domination and racial purity through genocidal means. I'm pretty sure as crappy of Presidents George W Bush was and Trump is, they are decidedly not Nazi's. Or Hitler. Or Goebbels, etc. Yet for 25 years there's been a not insignificant core on the left who tell us they are that, and in the past 15 years, that the nation and our republic are on the brink of dissolving, that the next election is the last election. Trump goes away in January of '29, sooner if his health fails him.

The fascist thing, especially going to the Nazi thing and Hitler, does seem a step past calling people socialists. It started with people calling W that early in his administration (the whole protests against the Afghanistan and Iraq wars were replete with signs comparing W to Hitler, complete with the small mustache), and only has ramped up over time. When you couple that with the fate of the republic in the balance, as we started doing in the 2010's, then I could see the argument. There's really nothing worse than being a Hitler or a Nazi. That's like going triple dog dare on someone.

That step past calling people socialists is made up by the sheer number of people and times that trump and MAQA yahoos have called his opponents unhinged, radical leftists, communists, socialists, etc. They've used them on judges, journalists, politicians, etc. Anyone that opposes or rules against trump's policies is fair game for derogatory name calling in their book and then they turn around and whine like the beta cucks they are when someone calls them names.

Prominent Democrats have compared trump to hitler. That's not debatable.

How can anyone claiming that calling trump hitler or a Nazi has led to violence against him and other MAQA yahoos argue that trump's words (“We have radical left lunatics out there and we just have to beat the hell out of them”) aren't a direct call for violence against his opponents?

Why when trump spoke on kirk's death did he only mention violence against MAQA yahoos and fail to mention liberals who were the victims of political violence such as Minnesota State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Minnesota State Sen. John Hoffman, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, etc?

327 people were shot yesterday and 117 of them died - thats the daily average in the US and this creepy was just one of them and probably deserved it as much as any of them. Business as usual - I don't get why the "Fuck Your Feelings" crowd is all of a sudden getting all drama-queen over a guy that understood very well that getting shot is just part of the cost of the second amendment.
