FAKE NEWS: Media Reports Mass Shooting In Australia But That's Impossible Because Guns Are Illegal There

WORLD — Fake news media across the globe have reported that a mass shooting occurred in Australia, which is literally impossible because guns are illegal there.

Despite the patent absurdity of criminals using guns, which are banned, several major news stations in the United States repeated the obviously fictional story.

"It's embarrassing how many news outlets were duped by this clearly fake story," said misinformation expert Harold Cannon. "It would have taken thirty seconds for these so-called news stations to simply Google gun laws in Australia, and they would have known the story couldn't be true. You simply can't have a shooting when guns have been banned. What a shameful day for journalistic integrity."

CNN and CBS News have issued corrections and apologized for running the story about the mass shooting. "We were so taken in by the eyewitness accounts of the shooting, we forgot that guns are illegal in Australia," explained CNN correspondent Anderson Cooper. "Apparently, the people claiming to have seen the shooter were suffering from some sort of mass delusion. Guns are banned, so criminals can't have guns. This story is another shocking example of how misinformation can spread, and the responsibility we all have to fight it. We promise to do better."

At publishing time, hospitals in Australia had sent several patients for psychiatric care after they claimed to have been shot.

How many jobs has AOC created?
Should we compare the net number of jobs AOChe has created vs the net number of jobs elon has created?

Will elon end up with a negative number?

Jobs elon was responsible for creating at Tesla, SpaceX, etc. minus jobs he was responsible for cutting at doge? He doesn’t get credit for ones the courts ordered restored either. Probably a net negative.

Just take the L.
I’ll spitball it for you so maybe you’ll understand:
- he created maybe 100K jobs at Tesla, SpaceX, etc.
- he cut approximately 200-300K jobs with doge

Net 100-200K jobs lost.

Exponentially more than AOChe did by chasing Amazon out.

You want to give him credit for both creating jobs and streamlining government but the streamlining cost more jobs than he created. You can’t have it both ways. Sorry, your narrative and/or your math sucks.

Google AI
Elon Musk's companies are estimated to support hundreds of thousands of ancillary jobs globally through their supply chains and economic multiplier effects. The total direct employment across all his ventures (Tesla, SpaceX, X, Neuralink, The Boring Company, and xAI) is over 140,000 people.

The precise number of ancillary jobs (indirect and induced jobs) is difficult to quantify exactly, as it involves a complex economic ripple effect, but recent data and estimations provide significant figures:
Overall Economic Impact: A November 2025 analysis suggested Musk's companies have generated over 500,000+ U.S. jobs in total (direct and indirect) through capital expenditures, payroll, R&D, and supplier contracts over the previous five years.

Tesla: In 2022, a report indicated Tesla alone was supporting over 600,000 total jobs. The company's expansion, such as the Gigafactory in Nevada, was expected to create an estimated 20,000 to 30,000 indirect jobs in the local area.

SpaceX: In the South Texas region where Starship is built, the company's operations were stated to support a total of 24,000 direct and indirect jobs in 2024 and 2025.
Oh and Elon had created hundreds of thousands of jobs that actually produce something. Those dead weight govt jobs cut produce nothing.

Why aren't you counting the indirect impact of the government layoffs on jobs lost? DOGE efforts could pose a meaningful drag on employment

elon isn't even the true founder of Tesla, should he be given credit for every job created at and by Tesla?

I asked ChatGPT - "how many jobs has elon musk created at tesla, spacex, etc. vs how many were cut by doge?" Here's the comparison summary and key takeaways
Comparison Summary
  • Direct jobs created by Musk’s companies (Tesla, SpaceX, xAI, others) ~140,000–150,000+
  • Jobs cut attributable to DOGE actions in federal government ~260,000–280,000+
Key takeaways:
  • Musk’s companies directly employ a substantial workforce (mostly private sector), especially Tesla and SpaceX.
  • The reported DOGE-related federal job cuts are roughly 1.8–2× larger than the total direct jobs Musk’s companies create — at least based on current estimates.
  • Indirect jobs related to Musk’s companies aren’t fully counted in the above figures; if included, they could far exceed direct employment numbers.
I included "Indirect jobs related to Musk’s companies aren’t fully counted in the above figures; if included, they could far exceed direct employment numbers." because I try not to be intellectually dishonest. You should give it a try. :D
