In May, the UK’s Home Office announced that it was dealing with a record number of Americans seeking British residency, with 2,000 applications having been submitted in the first six months of 2025 alone. The amount of Americans moving abroad in the first quarter of 2025 was more than double the amount who did the same in 2024. And a recent survey done by Harris Poll found that four in 10 Americans say they are interested in moving abroad for a better life; most alarmingly, that rises to more than half of all millennials and more than six in 10 members of Gen Z.

But it’s not just the people who are currently planning to leave who should be of concern to the US: it’s the people who will never arrive. College enrollment has been down across the country for a number of years, partly due to a demographic shift caused by people having fewer children. It nosedived recently after the Trump administration’s change to student visas kept out the international students who would usually make up for the falling numbers of Americans. This sudden drop — a decline of 30-40 percent in new students from abroad, and 15 percent in international student enrollment in this academic year — could end up costing the US economy $7 billion.

We have
-Massive trade deficit with China
-They put tariffs on our goods.
-They manipulate their currency
-They conduct state samctioned/supported intellectual property theft economic espionage (much of it through students) on a ginormous scale
-They gave the world (and us) Covid.They owe us trillions from that

For the US to then be educating scores of Chinese students (esp masters and doctoral level STEM) is just dumb. We shouldn’t be educating a single one of them. Fuck them.

Good. The biggest drop in Int students are from China. Shouldn’t be educating Chicoms so they can go back to China. It’s a huge national security risk and just dumb to be educating your enemies.

Nice short-term perspective. In the long-term, it's strategically stupid to stop taking the some of the best and the brightest from one of our enemies. It strengthens them and weakens us.
