Trump's pardons forgive financial crimes that came with hundreds of millions in punishments

I thought trump was fighting fraud not enabling it.Just one year into his second term, President Donald Trump has pardoned an unusually high number of wealthy people accused of financial crimes, according to an NBC News analysis of the last four administrations.
Over half of Trump’s 88 individual pardons are for white-collar offenses, with money laundering, bank fraud and wire fraud among the most frequent crimes the president has wiped clean.
…
While net worth statistics for other pardon recipients aren’t easily available, the amount of fines and restitution that had been imposed on them is a rough signal of their wealth. The 87 people and one corporation pardoned by Trump in the last year had been ordered to pay more than $298 million in fines and restitution
…
In June, Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee released a memo criticizing the president for potentially depriving victims of compensation they are owed and depleting funding for the Victims of Crime Act. The memo accused Trump’s pardons of “undermining public safety at every turn.”

No.Caribbean Hen wrote: ↑Mon Jan 26, 2026 9:02 pmSo you’re actually saying there is no fraud in Minnesota….
1). As I’ve mentioned here several times the Biden admin prosecuted the fraud and the leader was a white woman.
2). Sorry to make your boyfriend, Shirley, look silly and unhelpful again.

- Look at the race an religion of who Republicans are pursuing for fraud and then do the same for the fraudsters that trump has pardoned.
- Look at the races of the people who have had their TPS status pulled vs who trump allowed in (white South African Boers).
- Ever head of the great replacement theory?
The use of race is a two-way street, both parties are guilty of it.

How is claiming anti-Christian hate different then claiming racism?
Calling someone a Nazi or fascist is no different then calling someone a Marxist or communist which is a rightwing tactic. Are you going to call out trump, BDK, etc. for doing that?
The MAQA right is just as guilty of this stuff as the progressive left if not more so because like shrill Karens, they like to add unhinged, radical, extremist, etc. when they do it. I add those things when talking about MAQA to mock them for it.

Calling people racist is mostly a leftwing tactic. Racism is not subject to one party, it includes all parties.UNI88 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 27, 2026 10:16 amYou can dig up the posts by the MAQA yahoos on this board calling others racist or claiming racism.

Traditionally you are correct but that has changed since trump. MAQA yahoos think it's fun to try and turn the tables and claim racism against whites, especially Christian whites.Gil Dobie wrote: ↑Tue Jan 27, 2026 10:19 amCalling people racist is mostly a leftwing tactic. Re: Fraud in blue Minnesota for power
I like Massie, generally, but he's way off target here. He actually sounds like a Maduro apologist.
This oil was lawfully seized, period. It wasn't stolen, but if it was, why is he crying about proceeds from "stolen" oil going through the appropriations process? This isn't US taxpayer money.
It is normal operating procedure to park seized assets in neutral offshore escrow accounts. Its been done that way for years and years now. The same process has been followed when assets were seized from Russia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Iran, etc. If the seized assets were put in US accounts, it would never get back to the Venezuelan people where it belongs. US oil companies have billions of judgments against Venezuela and that money would be tied up in court judgments for God know how long.
The Executive Branch has had long outstanding authority (from Congress) to manage seized funds, and to distribute and liquidate them as they see fit.
Massie really fell on his face with that dumbass hot take.
