That’s exactly why I wore masks and maintained social distancing. We’re both immunocompromised and know too many higher risk elderly people. Our boys were cautious too. The last thing any of us wanted to do was get someone else sick or increase community spread.

Between that and staying on top of vaccines (I still am), none of us had COVID until last fall.

How are they going to be prosecuted? They’re wearing masks and I’m not aware of their uniforms or badges (if visible) having an identification number.
- Are their fellow agents going to break the blue wall and rat them out?
- Will the trump regime even bother to seriously investigate allegations of excessive use of force (many times with video evidence)?

I don’t think it was okay to protest inside a church service. A church should be a place where people can worship without disruption. That line shouldn’t have been crossed.

AND I also don’t think a pastor should be working for ICE. Preaching about love, compassion, and moral authority on Sunday while helping enforce an immigration system that terrorizes families the rest of the week is a wild contradiction. That’s not “complicated,” that’s conflicting values.

Let’s be honest: if Jesus showed up today; poor, brown, undocumented, flipping tables and calling out injustice a lot of the same people defending ICE right now would be clutching their pearls, calling him dangerous, and siding with “law and order.”

History already showed us how religious leaders aligned with state power reacted when someone threatened the system. It didn’t age well then, and it won’t now.

Two things can be true at the same time:
• Protesting during a church service wasn’t right.
• A preacher working for ICE should deeply trouble anyone who takes faith seriously.

If this comparison makes people uncomfortable, maybe that discomfort isn’t about the protest maybe it’s about the mirror. I said what I said and I stand on that 🫶
