I think this is good for both FCS and the bizumbs.
It might be good for the fans of FCS teams, but I don’t think losing North Dakota State is really going to help grow the FCS fan base.

The number of voters in the AGS poll are dwindling rapidly and it’s gonna take another big hit as Bison fans move out

I wouldn’t be surprised if they have to retire it
I haven't been on AGS in awhile but the impact on AGS isn't reflective of the overall impact on the FCS fan base.

Yes, FCS will lose a large and loyal fanbase and that will hurt.

Fans of other FCS programs have grown tired of the bizumb's dominance. It's turned them off and away. The bizumb leaving is an opportunity for other teams to set up and win and that will bring back more fans overall than FCS is losing.

That makes a lot of sense but I’m just not convinced it will get noticeable better with new fans, but long time FCS fans are definitely applauding this news and if a lot of them were hibernating until the Bison moved out it could help a little I guess

 Gil, you know these don't work for comparing I-A with I-AA... there's simply not enough data. NDSU no games against I-A, Montana State got stomped by Oregon, Illinois State got stomped by Oklahoma, etc...

It's OK. Your Bizen are moving on, you don't need to blindly defend I-AA anymore. EVEN IF the computer rankings are correct, which they aren't, there's more to I-AA being dead. From 2010 FCS has lost many of it's top draws, in fact 9 of the top 20 in attendance:

1. Appalachian State
4. Old Dominion
5. Delaware
6. Georgia Southern
7. Jacksonville State
9. James Madison
10. Liberty
11. North Dakota State
20. Massachusetts

35 schools averaged over 10k in 2010. That number is down to 21 (taking NDSU out). To say teams are replacing those that left is folly.
Well, I strongly disagree! FBS G6 has been avoiding top FCS teams. Army lost to Tarleton. The Michigan team App St beat lost to unranked Oregon 39-7 the next week. Great win by Appy.

One could also argue that about 30 or so FBS teams are really just good FCS teams or FBS in name only, but “in name only” is all that really counts because you’re on ESPN and the other revenue sources

Sac St offered $10 million.

School has $112 million escrow for football. Already raised $25 million from fans, I've heard. Teammakers turned over $6 million for the move.

Already fly to most places. Not much additional cost there.
 Sounds like P4 level money there.

Add to that the Ivies finally being in the playoff fold and the FCS playoffs are a bit more meaningful now. But those HBCUs. :ohno:

Not exactly sure what you're saying here, but there are some FBS that are worse than some FCS teams... that's always been the case.

FCS went 4-122 vs FBS this past year and only 1 of the 4 were against a semi-recent move-up (Bryant over UMass).

Compare that to a year like 2000 when there were 16 FCS wins including 5 by teams that moved up...

Appalachian State @ Wake Forest, 20-16
Sam Houston State @ Louisiana, 21-14
Texas State @ Louisiana-Monroe, 27-7
South Florida @ Connecticut, 21-13
Jacksonville State @ Louisiana, 28-14

or 2013 with 16 wins again and 4 by teams that have since moved up...

North Dakota State @ Kansas State, 24-21
Jacksonville State @ Georgia State, 32-26 (1 OT)
Old Dominion @ Idaho, 59-38
Georgia Southern @ Florida, 26-20

The trend of fewer and fewer FCS wins will likely continue as more of the top teams move out and if the transfer portal isn't changed.

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, just ask MUHawks on AGS

In a nutshell, what I’m saying is the top FCS teams are just as good or if not better than the bottom FBS teams.

I say CUSA is FBS “in name only” because the quality of play isn’t much better than the top FCS teams. FIU looked a hell of a lot like Rhode Island.

But what does it matter because FBS is where the publicity and the money is…. Just tell the fans it’s FBS and they’re gonna pay higher prices for parking, concessions and ticket prices and they will be more willing to donate more money.

FBS is a no brainer if you can get the invitation and have 17 million

Hey, I'm just glad that this topic has brought 89Hen back out of retirement for a couple of posts - he's been missed!!! I guess all we have to do is post about FCS dying or about the accuracy of the Massey polls every month or so to rouse him into logging on and posting!

Agreed there, but CUSA was 10-1 vs FCS with the one loss coming from the 7th worst team in FBS. The top of D2 is probably better than the bottom of FCS too.

Would be interesting to see a CUSA v MVFC challenge.

NDSU v Kennesaw
USD v JaxSt
UND v WKU
YSU v LaTech
ISU v MoSt
SDSU v FIU
SIU v UD
UNI v Liberty
Murray v MTSU
Indiana St v NM St

SDSU v JaxSt
UND v WKU
YSU v LaTech
ISU v MoSt
SDSU v FIU
SIU v UD
UNI v Liberty
Murray v MTSU
Indiana St v NM St
My predictions based on last year as reference:

NDSU v Kennesaw - NDSU
SDSU v JaxSt - Jax St (close one)
UND v WKU - WKU
YSU v LaTech - LaTech
ISU v MoSt - MoSt
SDSU v FIU - SDSU (might they might be tired after already playing a game in the challenge - depends on how much rest they get after the first game)
SIU v UD - UD
UNI v Liberty - Liberty
Murray v MTSU - MTSU (but like all MTSU games, really close)
Indiana St v NM St - NM ST

CUSA wins 8-2. Could shift a game or two based on home/away/neutral field.

I wouldn't disagree but with NDSU leaving... you can see that FCS just got a LOT weaker losing them.
