A British film about Charles Darwin has failed to find a US distributor because his theory of evolution is too controversial for American audiences, according to its producer.

Can you imagine if this would have happened with Passion of the Christ? This really has become a country of censorship run by organized religion.

Pitiful. :shake: :shake: :shake:
One day we are going to have a contest to pick out your dorkiest post, MJ.

A British film producer says Americans reject Darwin and you just jump all over it. I suppose their crop circles are made by aliens, too.

Why don't you consider for a moment that the Discovery Channel has something about evolution almost every day? Come out of the tabloid bubble and into the light, Nancy.

The guy is probably pissed because his film sucks and nobody wants to watch it.

It is also one of my favorites. I have the dvd of it and have watched it several times. Matt Damons character is hysterical.

I know a few people who have watched it and felt the way Ivytalk did. It's clearly a matter of personal taste.

With the exception of maybe Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, most recent Brit movies are crap anyway.

mj - if you think hollywood execs care about anything at all other than making money, you are deluded...

fact is, this movie doesn't have distributor because every single studio and distributor took a look at it and said "who the f would want to see this?"

you may want to attribute this to some sort of malice... but you are out of your damn mind. this isn't being picked up because well... who the fvck wants to see a movie about darwin???

You know, that had great potential. It was a really clever story idea. It just had poor writing, directing, and casting. The Coens would have done a much better job with it.

Yeah, I think the poor writing you speak has something to do with the general stupidity of the movie itself... but hey, MJ!!! MORE FUEL FOR YOUR FIRE!!! This film wasn't released in theaters nationwide either! Those corporate fucks really got something against evolution... to make it even more "tin foil on your head"... IT WAS MADE BY FOX :o :o :o :o :o :o

Riiiighht.......

The film has won a sh*tload of film festival awards.......and it stars Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly.

Check it out for yourself (takes a minute to download): http://creationthemovie.com/flash/#/

Here's a trailer:
Hollywood makes a movie about gay cowboys that grosses $178 million, and you think they have qualms about a movie about Darwin in a country where every attempt to put "intelligent design" in classrooms has fallen flat on its face? Sorry, that's just hard to believe.
JMU DJ wrote:Probably cuz no one gives a **** about science in this country.... add that to a love story and you probably have a box office zero. Come on, don't you want to see movie with absolutely no tangible plot that involves robots blowing up buildings and each other while the human race struggles to stop a global Apocalypse... I know I do.

Pretty well renown actors in that movie... can't recall anything bad I've ever seen them in. Especially Jennifer Connelly... hummina hummina Image
You can make a successful movie about a mathematician that wins the Nobel Prize in economics, but you don't think you could make a good movie about a man who was as controversial and groundbreaking as Darwin?

Yeah it was good, felt like they were trying to recapture the Snatch vibe though after Ritchie's abysmal "Revolver"

"In Bruges" "Eastern Promises" "Hot Fuzz" were pretty decent British films too...

Nah, not saying you can't... but it seems like the plot of this movie is much different than "A Beautiful Mind" where your taken deep into the mind of John Nash and his delusions. The plot of this movie is the conflict between Darwin and his wife over the publication of "The Origin of Species." From what I gather, seems more like a terse love conflict to me. You could make a movie about the controversial discovery that the earth isn't the center of our universe too... but I think it would be as welcomed by the masses as a 1 hour history channel documentary on the same matter.
