USA Today: CAA Rolls
About 1/3 way down the page:
"CAA rolls:
New Hampshire continued the strong showing of the Football Championship Subdivision's Colonial Athletic Association by knocking off Ball State 23-16 Saturday to run the CAA's record against Bowl Subdivision teams this season to 4-4.
The Wildcats have won five consecutive games against FBS schools and join Richmond (Duke), William & Mary (Virginia) and Villanova (Temple) as CAA teams with FBS wins in 2009. James Madison almost joined that club Saturday but lost in overtime to Maryland 38-35. The CAA played all of these games on the road."
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/ ... sets_N.htm
They didn't mention UMass losing @ Kansas State only 21-17 nor what makes the CAA's success stand out even more is that the rest of I-AA is 0-38 vs I-A...

While I love to see any FCS team beat an FBS team, I have to agree with BF here. Why? Because I am small and petty.
When the Griz used to beat Idaho, they never got any recognition for beating an FBS team, never moved them up in the polls and dropped them in the polls when they lost the one time.

Virginia isn't a real BCS school? I realize they suck this year, but games are usually scheduled years in advance. It's not William & Mary's fault that UVA sucks.citdog wrote:start playing REAL BCS schools and then you will get a little credit. ball freaking state? temple?
Re: USA Today: CAA Rolls
I'm no CAA fan, but the CAA is TOUGH this year. If they don't beat the crap out of each other, I see no reason why a CAA team shouldn't win the national championship this year. In fact, I'll go on record as saying it will be JMU.

Like North Carolina (who lost to Furman on Homemcoming a few years back) who lost to Virginia last year, who was stomped by Bill & Mary this year? Is that the BCS competition you are referring to?citdog wrote:start playing REAL BCS schools and then you will get a little credit. ball freaking state? temple?

Yes. And they have also all beaten "patsies" in recent years so they know exactly where they stand in relation to them. Also, CAA teams would not have done any better against the teams they lost to.

Re: USA Today: CAA Rolls
Some of you guys are amazing. When a FCS school has the opportunity to play any BCS team and then beats them we should be happy for their fans and school. We need to take advantage of any favorable media we get from all wins against BCS competition. A question to those who bemoan the competition in these games. When was the last time your team played a BCS opponent and won? Congratulations to the CAA for beating your BCS foes.

I lived in Charleston for a while in the early 90's, and grew fond of the very proud institution.
If I were talking smack, I'd refer to an achievement that occurred during this milennium, or at least during the past decade.
If I were the Citadel, I'd distance myself from this "athletic supporter" faster than the Democratic Party will distance themselves from ACORN.
People and organizations are judged not only on individual character, but by the company they keep.
C(h)itdog does not represent his fine institution particularly well.
