Early vs Late Spring Practice

Post by Col Hogan »

I noticed that Jacksonville has already had their spring game...and Coastal is just starting their Spring Practice...

UMass has 58 days to go before Spring Practice starts...

I know weather is the deciding factor on when schools have their Spring practice and Game...but I was wondering...

Is their any advantage/disadvantage to having an early or late spring practice...

I would think the earlier you have it, the more time between it's completion and the start of fall practice...could be a disadvantage...

If CCU waited 56 days, it would be too damn hot!

I would think that early practice would help - more time for the lessons to sink in, be worked on individually, etc.

Start early if you are in a region such as the SE. Get back into the routine, fix the problems, learn new tactics. beat the Weather.

Or start late if you are in the NE. Saves money not having to outfit the team with crampons.

(For the folks in FL who have only seen ice floating in their drinks during happy hour, this is a crampon)

Me either. I like Spring practice to actually take place in the spring time. Only problem is having spring break interrupt the practice routine.
