ODU Fans, enjoy this win because like dbackjon has stated already Monmouth will be a tougher test but at least we'll be at home. A lot of people are saying Monmouth will be our toughest opponent of the season.

But like ODU89 also stated, Foreman Field will be rocking next saturday because of this win. The team will get a long and well-deserved ovation when they run onto the field next saturday not to mention its Family Weekend. :D

As for this game today, this game had it all; costly mistakes, weather, road environment, tough opponent with speed, adversity, injuries, etc.

Just one question, when do we crack the Top 25 rankings?! jk

Also, this team is mostly freshman and sophomores...the only direction for this team to go in is up. These players are already big and have decent speed but they'll only get stronger, faster, bigger, and BETTER!!!! :D

It actually looked like just slightly fewer ODU fans than Jax fans. When the score was 27-14 and it started to rain, a lot of the Jax fans left, so we may have had the edge from that point on. We enjoyed the rain, because up until then the heat was around 500 degrees or so (I've lived down here ten years and still can't get used to it!). Most of the fans moved to the end zones where there was shade.

What made my our day was after the game when the players came over to the fence where we were and gave us high fives and thanked us for coming. My kids were thrilled with that, and the wife and I liked it too.

The Jax fans were very nice, even after the game. One lady in Jax green gave us a bottle of water because we looked like we had just crossed the Sahara.

I can't wait to get to Foreman Field.

The newspaper reported it was Jacksonville second largest crowd ever, I'm certain the ODU fans helped. Monmouth will be a tougher and they have a good QB. Well if he is good, he'll have a field day picking our secondary apart. This is the weakest part of our team.

Is ODU eligible for the play-off's. If they are that would fun to see that happen.

Yes they're eligible, but it won't matter. ODU's schedule is way too weak to have a realistic chance of making it. They play Monmouth this week & that's probably the toughest game on their schedule.

Imagine us in the playoffs. We'd go from playing VMI to Montana, or Villanova, or W&M, or JMU, or UNI, or UR. It's like playing Lambuth in one week, to Alabama the next.

Well still a first year team in the play-offs would be pretty crazy.

With what non-scholly Jacksonville did to our secondary, the end of this magical start is coming soon.

Frankly, playoff discussion for ODU is insulting to the established programs with serious schedules fighting for a spot.

This team has exceeded every expectation I could reasonably claim, and everything from this point is gravy.

With that being said, a .500 record would feel awfully good come year's end.

Oh, no worries - we all really appreciate the positive attention we have been given. Kind of refreshing considering the basketball bickerings that we participate in with our biggest rivals.

Just don't want anyone to think that we feel as if we have arrived, and are ready to challenge for the top tier of FCS. We have a lot of improvement ahead of us, and expectations for this program (especially for an ODU squad) are realistic and measured.

Andy, that is a very real possibility. If such a scenario plays out, you will be the first person I contact, due to your years of extensive experience on this subject.

However, if by some stroke of magic, ODU pulls off an upset, would you be willing lead the local lobbying efforts at Towson to leave the CAA, at least in basketball? ODU, VCU, and GMU are really tired of sharing postseason revenue checks with a program that has not been a factor in the league race since we adopted your program into the league.

We made a nice run in the CAA tourney this past year.

I'm kidding by the way with my ODU hate. Someone has to counter act the orgasmic lovefest rooting you guys on in your first season. Georgia State won't get any of this.

...plus I went to the WLAX game up here last spring at Towson and you beat us. 8-)

Andy-

No worries. I enjoy the good-natured ribbing and trust you take my return salvos in the same manner.

Kidding? Now why did to say that? You just ruined about 10 good one liners that I was about to fire out. I wanted to show the board how much hate we have for each other in the CAA, at least when it comes to basketball.
Don't worry about Ga. St. They will be playing in the Ga. Dome. They can't possibly get any love for that.

Save the one liners. I'll post a negative ODU stuff in each of these threads in an attempt to keep the balance. Use them then.
