Not to get tied up in semantics, but I think "intellect" suggests not just raw intelligence, but an ability to reason, learn from mistakes, grasp complexities and adapt. Obama's superficiality indicates that he is unable to do any of these things. He is doing what he has always done -- relying on oratorical eloquence (which does require some type of intelligence). I'm not suggesting he's stupid.

It isn't short-attention span. It's the belief that all you need to do to address a problem is utter a few platitudes that scroll across a teleprompter. The real problem with this president is a lack of substance and intellect. He's in over his head.
Listening to him is like listening to an oratorically gifted evangelical preacher (like Jeremiah Wright). The preacher has no problem whipping the true believers into a a frenzy, but once the emotional high has subsided you realize that he didn't really say anything. But you don't care because you're a true believer and you love the emotional high and having something to believe in.

I felt this way about Bush as well. But the difference was, at this same juncture in W's 1st term, I was very impressed with the team he had surrounded himself. You don't have to know all the answers yourself, but surround yourself with people who specialize in those arenas. While I didn't agree 100% (who does) with their policy, there was no doubt to that team's political ability & experience...I don't have that same feeling with this administration.....which, who knows, may not be a bad thing considering.....

Maybe there's something I'm missing here, but a president's time is pretty valuable and he will not spend time helping candidates who have little chance of an upset. And an endorsement isn't really much good if you don't show up and speak to said candidate's electorate endorsing them.

So valuable that he jets off to Denmark (DENMARK?!?) to chat up the Olympic Selection Committee about Chicago...
