Bush powerful - Obama weak
I just can't help but notice how powerful Bush still is. He is so powerful, it makes Obama weak. Hard to believe that a man who has been out of office for ten months now is still screwing up America and the World. I know, because I hear Obama and everyone on the left blame Bush everyday.

In diplomacy, it is good to be loved, but it is better to be feared.SeattleGriz wrote:I just can't help but notice how powerful Bush still is. He is so powerful, it makes Obama weak. At least with Bush, we were feared.
Obamakins thought people would love us for groveling. They don't.
With Obama at the helm, the world neither loves NOR fears the United States - the worst possible condition.

Care to elaborate on the bolded above? Just curious. Can you give some examples? I look forward to your well thought out and comprehensive reply.
"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

Didn't Russia boldly attack one of our allies - Georgia, while Bush was president?
Also almost every major ally boldly refused to be involved in the Iraq war.
You may want to try thinking before you post.

Re: Bush powerful - Obama weak
One oft-overlooked event during the Bush Presidency was the pacification of Libya. I would add the strength of the British and Polish support, and the fact that people in Iraq have voted and are voting.D1B wrote:Didn't Russia boldly attack one of our allies - Georgia, while Bush was president?native wrote:

However, there is actually a point or two in d's post. Who is impersonating d1b?!??? Whoever you are, your points about Georgia and coalition building are wll taken.
Making a point or two does does not make your case or mine, but more importantly it does not excuse Obama's world apology tour, Olympic embarrassment, or embrace of Castro and Chavez.
Both Bush and Obama face similar problems in building coalitions to do the things that should be done.
Unfortunately, neither has communicated a coherent vision of what should be done or built the consensus at home that is necessary to conduct any sort of activist foreign policy. I am not sure it is possible for either side to do so given the current state of the American electorate.
Bush and Obama (already!) have both overplayed their hands. The fact remains that in foreign policy it is better to be feared than loved, but it really sucks to be neither.
Bush led us to the path of "sucks!"
Obama is leading us down the path of "really sucks!"

I have heard almost every excuse imaginable from the left in regards to why Obama hasn't turned everything around, so I figured it must be true. Not a slam on the libs on this board, but our ineffective elected officials.
Lets throw them all out...and Obama IS weak.

Didn't start following politics until after 9/11, so I can't comment on the Clinton thing, but I sure don't remember Bush being a total pussy and blaming everyone for his issues.BlueHen86 wrote:Just like Clinton was so powerful during the 8 years that Bush was President.SeattleGriz wrote:I just can't help but notice how powerful Bush still is. All of our elected officials are ineffective, at least where the economy is concerned. The Bush administration was ineffective as our economy went down the crapper, and the Obama administration has been ineffective at turning things around quickly.SeattleGriz wrote:No! Both sides love to play the blame game, and both sides love to complain about the other side playing the blame game. Both sides like to make excuses too.

Does it matter? He had people making excuses for him, and he didn't exactly step up and say "the buck stops here". I wouldn't be suprised if the excuses were part of a White House strategy.AZGrizFan wrote:But did Bush?BlueHen86 wrote:

I've heard Obama's sound clips blaming the problems on the previous administration and I don't like his comments either. Obama hasn't fixed things yet and there is no way of knowing for sure if he knows what he's doing. He should keep his mouth shut and try to keep his promises.
I think both parties have blood on their hands as far as the economy goes. The real problem may be the fact that both parties take money from special interests. I think lobbyists are killing this country.

It does matter! I expect leaders to step up and take responsibility - without whining - whether they are junior high quarterbacks or presidents. I accept that Bush may have had his own spin machine working behind the scenes, but Obama has been a non-stop public whining machine.BlueHen86 wrote:Does it matter? But you hit on an important nugget of truth with regard to the economy. Peel one more layer and you will find Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - corrupt redistrutionist Democrat political contribution machines which forced businesses to accept sub-prime mortgage clients who were NOT likely to repay the loans. Democrat schemes aided and abetted by Republicans.

Absolutely it does matter. If Bush overtly stated that his administration's issues were a direct result of Clinton's mismanagement, then I would agree he's as culpable as Obama. Obama has made NO secret that he blames essentially EVERYTHING on Bush. Not stepping up is NOT the same as OVERTLY stating that the previous administration caused all the problems.BlueHen86 wrote:Does it matter? I agree, and neither did it completely. Obama has taken it a step further by deflecting blame himself where as Bush had others who did it for him. I don't approve of either method, but that seems to be politics these day, deflect blame and spin.native wrote:It does matter! A leader should step up. Blaming the other guy is wrong, but not stepping up while others blame the other guy for you isn't right either. Jesus Christ Blue Pants!!!! I agree with much of the criticism of Bush, but there is nowhere near the moral equivalency you suggest. You try so damn hard to be fair that all you do is cut the baby in half, leaving nothing but a bloody pile of dead babies in your wake.BlueHen86 wrote:A leader should step up.
