To reach 4256 hits, at his career rate of about 196 hits per season, he would have to play until he's 43 and without any drop-off in his production. Can't wait until Chip tells us Jeet is an MVP candidate this season when he was the eighth-best hitter on his own team. He is a very good baseball player on a very good team, but when everyone else in the lineup is mashing the shit out of the baseball like that, I don't know how a bunch of old-ass sportswriters can single him out and give him the lion's share of the credit. And just so we're clear I understand that's not what you were trying to do.

statistically - jeter's numbers are on par with Denard Span... excellent - esp at leadoff... but neither are anywhere near MVP... my bitching is about the "old wrinkly-assed sports writers" who hump his leg... (quite frankly, and I've said this to the Jeter haters for years... "you'd fucking love him if he played for your squad"...)

The Twins lost as Gardy said, because of CC, not fatigue. The Twins have a chance to win game in this series, how many depends on the pitching. I don't think Jeter is over-rated, he is a great player. It always sounds like announcers are biased towards the Yankees or the Red Sox or Brett Favre. They aren't, they are just more familiar with these teams and players, therefore their speak will center more on them. It's does come accross as biased, but it really isn't. Yes, if Mauer was in NY he would be Pope, in Minnesota they call him the Baby Jesus.

the baserunning gaffe... is what it is... gomez is a fuckup...

comparing blowing the call down the line - that was a foot fair to Ron Gant failing to slide and falling off first base is another thing entirely. (watch the play... really watch it... don't watch the feet, watch Gant's shoulders... he's falling off the base, Hrbek just gets out of his way and holds the tag on him) apples to oranges my friend - one is an arguably subjective call based upon whether or not Gant's momentum was carrying him off the bag... this was a clear call fair or foul... and ol' Phil Cuzzi fucked it up

I mentioned this earlier in the day on another thread - MLB brings in 2 extra umps to work the outfield and they fuck it up. Instead of putting 2 more blind clowns on the field, MLB should use replay so that the umps can at least get the obvious stuff correct. Not only would Mauer have scored if he had doubled, but with runners on 1st and 2nd (instead of bases loaded) the line drive to Texaiera would have been a hit because Tex would have holding the runner on 1st.
