These four hour games are wreaking havoc with my beauty rest. If my job actually required me to show up at a certain time and report to someone I'd be fucked.

Yeah, he rejected Villanova and Delaware and went to TXST due to the high academic standards and the beauty of San Marcos and the campus.

I'm so pissed right now that the Phillies gift wrapped this game for the Dodgers, but that you for providing a little bit of comic relief to take some of the sting away. Thanks again.CatMom wrote:Yeah, he rejected Villanova and Delaware and went to TXST due to the high academic standards and the beauty of San Marcos and the campus.

Dude, I hate to say this, but that actually crossed my mind. Utley didn't make an bad throwing error like that all season long and now he has made THREE in the playoffs so far. On top of that he hasn't hit a lick. WTF?!?!?JMU DJ wrote:![]()

Why take Pedro out? He only threw 87 pitches. Charlie usually makes the right moves, but this one was just plain stupid. Remove a dominating pitcher in favor of a suspect reliever. Unless Pedro was hurt, the move was just plain dumb.SunCoastBlueHen wrote:Dude, I hate to say this, but that actually crossed my mind. Now the Phils need a good outing from Blanton tomorrow. Wolf is usually tough on the Phils - he throws junk and gives the Phils problems.
I don't see the Dodgers recovering from 3-1 down, they'd have to beat Hamels, Martinez and Lee in order to do it. Tomorrow is a key game for both teams.

I enjoyed the "You Took Steroids" chant... I wouldn't expect any less from the Philly Phans

Re: 2009 Philadelphia Phillies Thread
I believe the Fenway fanooks did the same chant earlier in the season for A-Roid.JMU DJ wrote:I enjoyed the "You Took Steroids" chant... I wouldn't expect any less from the Philly Phans

Re: 2009 Philadelphia Phillies Thread
Awesome win for the Phillies. For the second year in a row the Phillies beat Broxton in game 4 to take a 3 games to 1 lead. Matt Stairs starts the rally with a walk, I don't think Broxton wanted any part of him. I think the only reason that Matt Stairs is on the roster is to hit against Broxton in the playoffs.
Wolf was tough on the Phils, but the Phils bullpen kept them in the game and set up the great finish.

I just can't watch. Every time I do they lose, or get behind. Missed part of game 1 ( work). I watched the whole game 2 in LA and they lost. Last night I went to nap before the game and woke up at 1:30 AM. What did they do - pummeled the D's. Tonight I got too frazzled and couldn't stand it so I switched channels...they win in style. I am not watching Weds.

WOW!

Pretty cool from the historical aspect too, though I don't think Rollins double will be remembered as much as Gibson or Bevens.
Closers are really tanking this post season, I was happy that the Phillies had to make the bottom of the 9th comeback. Less heart palpitations when you don't have to use Lidge.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs/ ... id=4578540Try to understand what just happened here. You can count the postseason baseball games that resemble what happened at Citizens Bank Park on this indelible Monday with two fingers. And those two fingers would be used to count games that can best be described with one word: "LEGENDARY."
It was Jimmy Rollins' heart-thumping two-run double with two outs in the ninth that turned defeat into triumph, turned a 4-3 loss into Phillies 5, Dodgers 4. But now let's do our best to put that game-winning hit into historical perspective.
There have been 1,251 postseason games in baseball history. Only two others -- two -- ever ended this way, with a walk-off extra-base hit by a team that was one out away from losing.
One was The Kirk Gibson Game -- Game 1 of the 1988 World Series, Gibson homering off Dennis Eckersley, Jack Buck warbling: "I don't believe what I just saw."
The other was The Bill Bevens Game -- Game 4 of the 1947 World Series, when Yankees pitcher Bill Bevens got within one out of the first no-hitter in World Series history, and then lost it all. Lost his win. Lost his place in immortality. Lost it on a two-run double by Cookie Lavagetto with two outs in the ninth.
And now here we are, still talking about it today, more than six decades later. Why? Because the October dots connect it with this game. OK, now get the picture? This wasn't just another walk-off win that unfolded in South Philadelphia on Monday. This was history.
Closers are really tanking this post season, I was happy that the Phillies had to make the bottom of the 9th comeback. Less heart palpitations when you don't have to use Lidge.

Interesting facts JMU DJ. Another tidbit from last night is that Ryan Howard tied Lou Gehrig's record for consecutive postseason games (8) with an RBI.
