Predict your Team's 2008 record

Post by dbackjon »

I'm calling 7-4 for NAU in 2008.

Wins: New Mexico Highlands, Southern Utah, Sac State, Idaho State and Northern Colorado

Losses: Montana, EWU, Arizona State

Win two of three: Weber State, Montana State, and Portland State.

With a new coach and QB this year, we are hard to predict. One can always hope.

I'd realistically say we could go 8-4 or possibly 9-3 this next season. With tough road games at Cal Poly, EWU, Weber, & PSU it's gonna be tough row for the Griz this season. I think if we do lose the road games we will be on pins and needles to get into a playoff spot due to a lackluster showing against every really tough team away from WG. NAU is always tough even when they aren't considered real strong but I think they will be strong this year and we could drop one at home to them or the dirty Bobcats. If that happens the playoff streak will be over. We could start the season 3-3, and with a tough last 4 games our backs would really be against the wall. I think Thomas-Brooks Fletcher will fill in fairly well at RB, The sophomore Chase Reynolds is looking pretty strong too. Kroy will be really tough to replace but with a very experienced QB and also some good back ups at that position in case of injury things don't look as bad as they could. I could see us utilizing one of the current backup QB's as a WR this next season possibly. Just watching Clint Stapp in his limited time in games at QB the guy has a real gun slinger mentality and might be one of those fearless willing to do anything type of fellas that would be up for it.

I'm going to say UMass will go 9 - 3 this coming season...

We play at JMU and Delaware comes to Amherst...we'll split with those two power houses...

We travel to Texas Tech for our money game...can our secondary keep up with their run and gun game???

We play UNH on the road, which is always a tough match...and we play URI on the road again (quirk in scheduling that we play them two years in a row at Kingston)...and the Rams always play us tough at home...

Optimistically, 9 - 3...since I think we had a strong recruiting season...and knowing Coach Brown, he'll pull in an FBS transfer after spring practice...

For the Griz I'll go with 10-2 (7-1 Big Sky). We'll make the playoffs one way or another, but definitely not as a top-4 seed.

Losses: @ Cal Poly, @ EWU

Plausible losses I'm not picking: @ Portland St., @ Weber

Easiest game: vs. Southern Utah

Toughest game: @ Cal Poly

I'm not even prepared to say that we'll even field a team until the dumb@$$ SID bothers to post a freaking schedule....

You (and I) had better hope, M. I can see us losing BOTH PSU and Weber...and 8-4, with a 5-3 conference record probably ain't gonna cut it.

No, 8-4 won't cut it with that schedule (probably wouldn't cut it even with a tough schedule). However, I'm not too scared of PSU given the amount of talent they lost. The only reasons I even put it in the plausible loss column was our inexperience in the secondary & PSU's disproportionate obsession with beating Montana. I'm not too familiar with Weber's individual personnel other than Cameron Higgins, but they should be solid though probably not playoff-bound. Eastern will be tough but they're still beatable given their inexperience on the O-line. In my mind, the only surprising win would be Cal Poly. Going up against their unconventional semi-option offense and that QB & that 6'6" WR in the first game of the season with our lack of experience on defense isn't a good combination.

My concern about PSU relates less to them losing some talent and more to them having a second year of seasoning under Glanville's system. It's complicated, and requires a certain kind of athlete. Not sure if he's got THAT yet, but a second year can't be good for US, and the game IS in Portland....

NAU had better thank their lucky stars that the immortal John Fassel isn't still coaching NMHU. That would be a guaranteed D-II loss for the 'Jacks. Now, it's a guaranteed win.

I'm also not sure I'd call NAU beating Sac nor Arizona State beating NAU done deals. Sac is on the rise, and ASU is vulnerable (as much as it pains me to say that of the school that produced my favorite QB of all time, the immortal Danny White).

NAU's last two games with NMHU (84 and 91), were both 50+ point blowouts.

I am not guaranteeing anything - hell, we couldn't beat Sac last year

But, we have them at home, so I like our chances.

You are smoking CRACK if you think ASU is vulnerable. They'll be even BETTER this year than last year. I'm gonna predict NAU doesn't come within 24 of ASU this year.

The Citadel Bulldogs will be 8-4 in the 2008 season and share the SoCon Title with the "Fighting Mountain Gayboys" of App State.

Losses to Klempson Cow College, 'Dem Florida Gators, App State, and one other conference game that could be eiter Woffy, or Furman. Not worried about the eaglets from Pig's Ass, GA one bit.
