11/3 Elections
11/3 Elections
Ok, its off-year for elections, but voters in Virginia and New Jersey elect governors, New York's 23rd gets a new representative, w/ the Conservative Party possibly taking a seat in Congress (I've always thought we needed more political parties that can have some power-similar to many European nations).
Voters in Maine choose to allow civil rights to LGBTs or continue to suppress them.

voters here in st. paul will likely support instant runoff voting nonsense...

gopers pick up the va gov - dunno enough about the NJ race to make a call

Judging by her support of the Democrat candidate, I'd say the answer to your question is fairly obvious...TwinTownBisonFan wrote: my pick NY-23 goes to the dems narrowly (would love to know who paid of the Repub to get her to drop out)

Five races I am watching:
1) Maine - Gay Marriage Vote
2) Washington State - Domestic Partner Vote
3) NY-23 - if the Far Right can't win a Republican-leaning district this year, then they need to go back to the drawing board
4-5) Virginia and New Jersey Govenor - national importance is far overstated, regardless of who wins.

Hasn't the VA governorship gone opposite of the White House for many, many years?

Here are my Ivytalk Dartboard Picks:
1. Corzine in NJ -- narrow win over Christie
2. McDonnell in VA -- Mr. Deeds doesn't go to town this year after 10-point loss
3. Hoffman in NY23 -- the Conservative wins by a nose hair
4. Bloomberg in NYC

with the exception of #3 these calls are a bit like saying Florida will beat an NAIA school...Ivytalk wrote:Here are my Ivytalk Dartboard Picks:

at this point, I'd be kind of surprised if the Dem doesn't pull it out and win it in NY-23 to be honest

I'll be voting all the incumbents off city council and the mayors office.

Obviously the race in Virginia is of interest to me, McDonnell's gonna win tho, but I'd also like to see if a 3rd party can grab a house seat and if Maine voters realise me legally marrying another dude would have 0 impact on their lives.

Re: 11/3 Elections
One democrat down maybe 2 more. I will be honest I don't think the GOP will win NJ. I hope I'm wrong but that state is so for the Democrats it's not even funny.

Looks like a Republican sweep in VA...Gov, Lt Gov, and AG...Ivytalk wrote:Here are my Ivytalk Dartboard Picks:

Looks like the House of Delegates will remain in GOP hands...but those results are hours off...

20% reporting, Menino only leads by 62 votes.... this would be a major upset.

Re: 11/3 Elections
McDonnell blew out Deeds by 20%. Polls said he'd win by 12-14%, but he won by a lot more in a state Obama won by 6%. That is a 26% change!

Re: 11/3 Elections
Christie up about 6% with 60% reporting in the NJ Gov race.
I'll be disappointed if Christie wins. He seems like a douche to me.
EDIT: I misspoke. Christie is actually leading.
