Sac Co. Admits Water-Wasting Mistake

12 Sprinklers May Have Been Running Nonstop For Days

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Ca - KCRA 3 has learned that Sacramento County may have wasted thousands of gallons of water over the past four days.

That's because 12 sprinklers near the intersection of Folsom Boulevard and Watt Avenue may have been running nonstop for days.

"I first noticed them Saturday morning. Today, they were still on," Sheryl Laflamme said. "It's just unbelievable. It's hard to believe."

The sprinklers in question are part of a Sacramento County construction project that included the installation of new landscaping this past September.

Laflamme initially reported the problem to the city on Saturday. However, the city dismissed that call because the sprinklers are outside city limits. The county said it did not learn of a problem until Monday.

"It was an accident," Sacramento County Project Manager Scott Werth said. "It's something that was a maintenance issue that we took care of as best we could when we found out about it."

The landscape contractor told KCRA 3 that they did not know why or how long the sprinklers had been going. Neither the landscaper nor Sacramento County knew how much water was wasted.

However, Chris Williams, a hardware expert at Walker-Cordova True Value Hardware, estimated that 12 standard sprinklers operating nonstop would spray more than 1,000 gallons of water an hour.

"That's at a bare minimum with the adjustments all the way down. That's a lot of water, especially nowadays," Williams said.

If water is so vitally important to Cali's economy, then why in the hell would Sacramento county be adding landscaping requiring additional water?

I guess this is an attempt to save the all-important landscaping industry. TMan - can you enlighten us? or is it the fish's fault.... :coffee:

Sacramento is a desert..!!!
Nothing planted by the city / County or state officials should require additional water....
Indigenous plant species ONLY

The entire city sprinkler system should be turned OFF

The greatest threat to America's future productivity, the Natural Resources Defense Council, is once again throwing common sense out the window, and pulling all stops to sabotage CA's water bill.

To boot, Dickhead Darrell (Steinberg), the State Senate's chief crime boss got caught slipping in a $10 million dollar "Diversity Center" within the contents of the bill...

...just at a time when Reps and Dems were close to reaching a compromise...

Nestled among the provisions of a measure approved on a 29-5 vote by the Senate late Monday is language that would earmark "not less than $10 million" for the California Unity Center.

The center, which is proposed for construction on the site of the old Sacramento City Unified School District headquarters at 16th and N streets, is envisioned as a "statewide hub" to teach tolerance to students and encourage "collaborative problem-solving," according to its Web site.

Language in the bond bill stipulates only that the $10 million "shall be available for capital improvements to nonprofit facilities that provide watershed, environmental justice and urban greening education programs to students in the Sacramento City Unified School District and the surrounding area."...
Fuck the Dems. Fuck Steinberg.

The CA Dept. of Water Reclamation has a legal opinion that indicates they can move forward with a plan to build the peripheral canal, WITHOUT HAVING TO RECEIVE LEGISLATIVE OR VOTER APPROVAL.

My wish, is that every lying leftist crook who's elected to destroy CA by infrastructure elimination, would be better served living in Maine.
