That would be a huge game. SCSU is looking stronger then ever. It would be the best first round match up.
as much as I want a home play-off game at SCSU I would have no problem going up to boone again...Our gus are playing really motivated after giving app st. a good game last year..we have a garbage conference I do agree! but we are clicking on all cylinders right now and the goal this season has been since week 1 playoffs..I think we would give App a heck of a game or anybody else for that matter and hopefully we can gain some credibility not as a MEAC team but a legit FCS playoff team year in and out...
Welcome SCSU07!
SCSU is the best MEAC team in a while. William Ford is the real deal. Lets just hope its not the Hampton-type of MEAC team from a few years ago.

Thanks bro glad to be here..but in your reference to that 05 hampton team I don't think so and even if you want to include them a little MEAC history for you from 04-06 Hampton was the conference champion every year...and they actually represented well although not winning a playoff game..in 04 they played W&M and lost 42-35 in a close game ..05 they got blown out and in 06 they they play NH an fell in a close 41-38 contest..thats why personally I think the perception is worse than the actual competetivness of the conf. winner this decade. with the exception of del st in 07 which was a fluke!!! the MEAC big 3 in Hampton,FAMU,and SCSU has been competetive in the playoffs..but I do understand someone is going to have to win out the Conference on a yearly basis to change that..but trust me This SCSU team is legit and im not saying that because I am a graduate cause Id be the first to tell you if our record didnt mean anything. Ive seen the comments bout the conference and the team and some of them are warranted we have to actually win in the Playoffs before we can really get the respect from the voters and I think this year we have a really good chance....

Weber also lost at home to Montana State.
Just curious, you seem to have written MSU off.............why? They're the only BSC team that could still possibly be co-champs with the griz and could get the auto if the griz lose this weekend to UNC (I agree that's highly unlikely) and the Cats beat the griz (which I think is a definite possibility). If the griz win this weekend and lock up the auto the Cats are still in a very strong position for an at large if they finish at 8-3 winning four in a row including the griz. Even if they tie an 8-3 EWU. I think the nod would go to the Cats.

Only if Weber wins out, too, and forces a 3-way tie. A 2-way tie between EWU & MSU would definitely go to Eastern because of the head-to-head win.
Bobcats need to win out & get either two Weber wins or losses by EWU & NAU.

Weber also went to Montana and **** a brick, and earlier in the year pissed the bed at home against MSU. EWU held their turf against the Bobcats, and gave the Griz a battle in Missoula.
Head to head should be what counts and Montana is going beat Montana state. Montana wants a top seed so Montana state will have 3 conference losses. Weber should finish second in the conference and take the at large bid.

Montana wants a top seed and home field throughout the playoffs so they have to win to stay on top. Yes Weber has to win out and needs you guys to lose. If that happens Weber should get in because of head to head with EW.
I heard talk during the meat of the economic turndown that the NCAA was increasing their bus travel minimum to 500 miles. Guess that never got put in, eh?

If Weber wins out the best they can finish is 7-4 and I don't see any chance of a 7-4 team getting in this year. If MSU and EWU tie at 8-3 it's up to the committee, but head to head is not a definitive criteria for the committee to use in selecting at large slots.

You are correct about Weber (best case 7-4). However, the best case for MSU is 7-3 and the best case for EWU is 7-3. D2 games will not be taken into consideration.

I'm well aware of that, but an 8-3 team will go before a 7-4 as long as there are 7 DI wins. The inequity we have out west is we often schedule DII teams that would regularly beat teams that the EC FCS teams get to count as DI wins.
FCS Update wrote:I don't think Montana State will win out.
I don't think we'll be seeing any teams from the non-auto conference.
Any particular reason that you think a team that's currently right on the GPI Bubble won't even be in the discussion? I can understand giving up on the NEC and Pioneer, but Liberty is squarely in the discussion. Saying they aren't is a bit shortsighted. Do we have a "good chance"? No, but our chances are better than a couple of your other bubble teams.

Except that Weber (& NAU) didn't play a DII. For EWU, MSU, Weber, & NAU: every one of those teams that wins out will be 7-2 against FCS. Whichever of those teams (if any) ends up in the playoff picture will have equivalent resumes, so head-to-head will most likely be the deciding factor. The only way h2h won't decide it is if there's a 3-way split scenario between MSU, Weber, & EWU. In that case, the MSU win over Montana would probably decide things unless the committee holds the narrow Dixie win against them.
