So what? Joe's original contention was there is an "alarming increase in unwanted pregnancies" (false BTW)due to the increased availability of contraceptives (according to the Pope) (False according to planned parenthood and other non religious womens health orgs). I don't see that anywhere in your sources.
In fact here's a direct quote from one:
"Federal health experts said they don't know why the teen pregnancy numbers went up from 2005 to 2006, and that not enough data have been collected to say whether it's a trend."
Chad don't get wrapped up Joltin Joe's delusions. He argues to win court cases for his client - that catholic religion and as such can only offer half truths, extreme stretches of the truth or logic or flat out lies and personal attacks.
"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

More from your US stats. Notice nothing about the Pope, a reference to birth to girls till age 20 - not necessarily "unwanted" pregnancies there, and the numbers are hardly "alarming". Also, at the end, sounds to be like a reference to the need for planned parenthood-like womens health orgs.
In 2005, the number of births for girls aged 15 to 17 was about 133,000, or 21 for every 1,000 girls. That number rose to nearly 139,000, or 22 for every 1,000 girls, in 2006.
Along the same lines, 1/3 of girls in the United States got pregnant before age 20, and more than 435,000 babies were born to teens between 15 and 19 years in 2006, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
A cutback in community resources for youth over the last eight years could help explain the increase in teen pregnancies, said Michele Ozumba, director of the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention.
"All small-community based organizations doing youth programming are struggling just to keep the doors open," she said. "There are no additional resources to respond to the needs that we're seeing every day."

Joe, you are utterly clueless.JoltinJoe wrote:Jeff, do you think before you write? Look, I know the schtick of your "clan" to blame the church for everything, but these statements are ridiculous. Africa is dying due to overpopulation and AIDS. The Ugandan law is an unfortunate reaction to this reality: a reality exasperated by the roman catholic church and its policies on condom use and birth control.
When it's all said and done, the roman catholic church will be credited with the deaths of billions in Africa - yet another black mark on the most brutal tyranny mankind has ever witnessed - the roman catholic church.![]()
Joe, nice try.
People die in Africa because it is some body's economic interest for that to happen. And to "solve" this problem, it is much cheaper to give them birth control and abortion than to heed pesky messages about sharing what we have with others.
The Catholic Church is growing rapdily in Africa because, given the choice between the message of the Church and the message of people like you, the African people are responding to the message that tells them that they are a good and worthy people. They understand that the message of the secular western world is that they are burden -- underscored by our willingness to give them birth control and abortion, which says loudly and clearly, "Go away. You are burden to us."
And now for the truth:
Source and a thorough history of AIDS in Uganda - http://www.avert.org/aids-uganda.htm
The third phase of HIV/AIDS in Uganda has seen the stabilisation of prevalence during 2000-2005, and reports of a slight increase in prevalence from 2006.9
Free antiretroviral drugs have been available in Uganda since 2004. It is thought that the introduction of HIV drugs may have led to complacency about HIV as AIDS is no longer an immediate death sentence. Many experts have also speculated that Uganda’s shift in prevention policy away from ABC towards US-backed abstinence-only programmes may also be responsible for an increase in risky behaviour, as comprehensive sex education and condom promotion are no longer mainstream.

My point was about a longer trend going back to the 1960s. You haven't debunked a single thing I've said. You're off-point, focusing on the last five years, and you would be completely delusional if you were to deny what has been observed over a 40-year trend.D1B wrote:clenz wrote:Here is the US stats

People are laughing at you, because everyone knows that there has been a significant jump in unintended pregnancies over the past 40-45 years.

During the period of rise of the Catholic Church in Uganda, the AIDS/HIV rasmsion rate has dramatically dropped. Is it a coincidence?
You are pretty selective and funny about what you quote. 'Many experts have speculated?"
Although there may be many factors which have caused a drop of the HIV rate in Uganda, you are (again) deluding yourself if you believe that the abstnience message is not one of them. It's amazing how you ilk derail the effectiveness of the abstinence message. In the African nation in which the abstinence/faithfulness message has been most openly received, there has been the most progress in combatting the spread of HIV.
Frankly, it is ridiculous for yout to claim that a program which emphasizes abstinenece and being faithful, over condom use, is not effective. I can GUARANTEE you that if you exercise abstinence and faithfulness to one partner, that you have cut the HIV risk to 0%.
So seriously, stop being a dope. Condom use is an inferior way of combatting HIV transmission, rather than abstinence/faithfulness. In the words of the immortal Chico Esuela, "Rubber break."

You can not teach someone to be gay.native wrote: So regardless of whether or not you think you are hard wired to be gay, you have absolutely no right to teach children to be gay.
Let people be whatever they want (with consenting adults) when they reach the age of majority, and teach children not to hate or bully others, but otherwise keep your hands completely off until then.
So as long as you define equality to include raising children to be gay and teaching the gay lifestyle in school, you are the bigot.
You can not teach someone to be straight.
The science is very clear on the subject, people do not learn or choose to be either gay or straight.

Please do not call/accuse fellow cser's of being child-rapists/molesters. Most anything goes here, but that is unacceptable behavior, especially given the power of internet search engines, and the inability of people outside of the cs family that would not be able to tell if someone was serious or not.
Thanks.
I know some might be pissed off at me again, but I am being consistant.

I aint pissed. Thanks for the warning/explanation and I agree. It won't happen again.
BTW, I never called or accused anyone of the above, I said they defended the people who do. There is a difference.

Thank you for your understanding. While not directly, it could be construed that way. Better to make sure that distinction is clearer.
