Are these their all-time game stats? Seems like it considering UNI has played 373 more games...

And I'm pretty sure that UNI hasn't averaged 34 games a year since 1980!

Besides their conference titles...how do their playoff records look?

My vote goes to the MSU BobScats. Just because I hate them. That's all the FACTS you need. :coffee:

I spent a couple minutes and went through every year of the playoffs.

UNI is the most successful loser, with McNeese in second.

UNI: 18-14
McNeese: 11-13

However, McNeese has 2 title game appearances, UNI only has 1.

Some other notables who have never won it:

Stephen F. Austin: 6-4
EWU: 5-6
William & Mary: 4-6
Villanova: 4-7
UNH: 3-6

From another thread, it appears that EWU might be eligible for this prestigious award? Anyone want to pull up some stats on those boys for judging? (cuz I'm sure not going to)

1. UNI
2. McNeese
3. Dayton

I mean, you can't deny what the Flyers have accomplished over the last 20 years, no-scholly DIII equivalent league or not

Welcome :thumb:

Don't you think that playoff history (or lack thereof) should be a part of the equation?

Yeah, but I really don't see a third team jumping out at me. There are teams with stretches of quality seasons like Villanova, Hofstra, Eastern Washington, but it's still a pretty big drop-off from UNI and McNeese

Yes, but UNI, McNeese, and Dayton all have their high winning percentage simply because they don't play in the CAA.

However, it is notable that you included Dayton with UNI and McNeese. ;)

MSU plays 7 conference games, the CAA 8, right? Not a big difference there. :coffee: And the south playing north teams........please

Next - UNI has been playing football since 1927, MSU didn't even exist until 1939 and, I believe, not DI until 1982 (can't find exact info on this but SLC went DI then)

After some research, I have to give the slight edge to Northern Iowa over McNeeese State for title of "Best FCS team without a title."

Here is a comparison of both teams since joining FCS football:

Northern Iowa (since 1981)
236-103 69.6% (includes playoffs)
17 conference titles
12 playoff appearances
15-12 playoff record
1 national title appearance
5 semi final appearances

McNeese (since 1982)
195-118 62.3% (includes playoffs)
9 conference championships
13 playoff appearances
11-13 playoff record
2 national title appearances
3 semi final appearances
