While I don't agree that a candidate's Religion should be weighed during an election, they are "selling themselves" and their "credentials", and if the majority of the "buyers" are Bible thumpers, then the candidate will promote that facet of their "product". It's all moot, IMHO...a candidate's alleged "Religious" beliefs or lack of, is rarely an indicator of the ability to do a good job as President...just look at Bush.
