Fox News airs another misleading video:

For the second time in just over a week, Fox News is coming under fire for misusing old news footage. The latest flap is leading some people to charge that the cable news network is intentionally misleading its audience, while Fox claims a "production error."

Wednesday's incident occurred when Fox News host Gregg Jarrett mentioned that a Sarah Palin appearance and book signing in Grand Rapids, Michigan had a massive turnout. As footage rolled of a smiling and waving Palin amidst a throng of fans, Jarrett noted that the former Republican vice-presidential candidate is "continuing to draw huge crowds while she's promoting her brand-new book,'' adding that the images being shown were "some of the pictures just coming in to us.... The lines earlier had formed this morning."

However, the video used in the segment was from a 2008 McCain/Palin campaign rally. In response to the minor uproar that arose after clips of Jarrett's report hit the Internet, Fox senior vice-president of news Michael Clemente issued an initial statement saying, "This was a production error in which the copy editor changed a script and didn't alert the control room to update the video."

On Thursday afternoon, Fox News issued an on-air apology delivered by host Jane Skinner:

Yesterday we told you about Sarah Palin kicking off her book tour and then we spoke to Sean Hannity about an interview that he did with former Governor Palin. When introducing the segment we showed you footage of people lining up in Michigan for a book signing that evening. In the tease before the segment, the tease to commercial, we told you how those people were already lining up to meet Palin. The problem is we didn't show you the video we were actually referencing. Instead we mistakenly aired what's called "file tape" of Sarah Palin. We didn't mean to mislead anybody in that tease. It was a mistake, and for that we apologize.

The current mishap comes on the heels of a controversy sparked last week when footage from a conservative rally held over the summer was played on "Hannity" during a segment on a more recent rally. During the clip, host Sean Hannity marveled over the large turnout for a Washington, DC protest. The Daily Show later pointed out that there seemed to be some inconsistencies with the video shown on Hannity's show, namely that the atmospheric conditions seemed to vary from shot to shot. Hannity later apologized on the air for what he called "an inadvertent mistake."

Fox could puke pure propaganda 7/24 and still not be able to make up for the left wing bullshit from CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN and MSNBC.

At least Fox publicly admitted the mistake. Fox is not perfect, but some of their programs are indeed as fair and balanced as any in the broadcast media - presenting a variety of viewpoints and diversity of intelligent, well informed panel participants.

Non story.....if you listen to the announcer, he's making comments "on the fly" about footage while trying to listen in his earpiece....it's an honext mistake by announcer trying to wing it on live TV...petty for Libs to make a big deal about this...now Hannity on the other hand....

Bush never made any ridiculous claims of "jobs saved," but several million jobs were created on his watch.

His administration did.

Our Rural Development programs also help communities with infrastructure such as electricity, water and telecommunications and with economic development assistance. We have estimated that our rural development programs have saved or created more than 500,000 jobs just since the Bush Administration took office in January of 2001. Recently we have seen more positive numbers showing that the U.S. economy created nearly a quarter of a million jobs last month alone for a total of 1 million jobs created in the last three months and about 1.5 million jobs in the past nine months.

Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns today announced the selection of 26 loan and grant recipients in 14 states that will receive $9.2 million in rural business development funds.

"I applaud the local community leadership for their efforts to secure these investments, which are needed to create economic opportunities and improve the quality of life available in their community," said Johanns. "These funds are part of the Bush Administration's ongoing efforts to spur economic development in rural areas and will help save or create more than 1,800 jobs."

Agriculture Under Secretary Thomas C. Dorr today announced the award of $19.75 million to create or retain jobs at rural businesses.

"The funding announced today is expected to save or create more than 2,300 jobs in 20 states."

So since you are not naive, I suppose that you agree that CNN intentionally hid the fact that the man carrying an assault rifle at the rally near where Obama was speaking was in fact a black man? Particularly when the CNN commentators were making comments about how the carrying of weapons raised the fears of WHITE supremacist attacks against the President?

ALL of the news agencies do what FOX did. They use file footage. Any idiot knows that file footage can be researched. Besides, I doubt that any FOX viewers suddenly decided to jump on the Palin bandwagon after seeing throngs of people in the video.

If the FOX announcers had said, "Now, here is video of all the people at Palin's book signing." then there would be an issue. All in all, this is a non starter, as Appaholic said. If this is the best the White House can do (since nobody is going to believe that after the childish behavior of the White House towards FOX a few weeks ago that this is a coincidence... THAT would be naive) then maybe they should turn their attention to more important things.

FOX is a messenger. Nobody is attacking their message. They are attacking FOX. If anybody is naive here, it is certainly not people like Appaholic.
