At 41-14 SDSU had a 2 yard drive, an 11 yard drive and a blocked punt for a TD. It wasn't like the SDSU offense was lighting up the scoreboard. Really should have been 20-7 at that point, no reason to panic and the Griz didn't. They imposed their will on the 'Jacks in the second half, and especially the 4th quarter. Perhaps the greatest quarter of football ever played by the Griz.

I will humbly eat crow regarding Andrew Selle as well, Ursus.

I had visions of that game dancing through my head when McKnight's extra point attempt to tie the game at 48 hit the left upright but ricocheted through....
I closed my eyes on that one and listened for the crowd reaction, and my buddy told me it went in off the upright right after. :o

If we had to play the nancies that Montana does every week, we'd be in the playoffs every year too.

Uh, yeah. Thats my point. We play teams like that every week. Montana played "so-so" all year long, and was never really challenged by the weak teams in the BSC.

Yeah… Willinois, Indiana State, Illinois State, YSU, Mizzou St., St. Francis (PA), South Dakota… Those teams sure are playoff caliber.

I sincerely hope you aren't being serious with everything you say. If you are, then I think society has a duty to lock you in a padded room for your own safety and the safety of others.

Win against NAU in OT
Win against EWU late
Win against ISU as time ran out.

Yeah. Never challenged.

The difference is Montana WON the games they were challenged in. UNI didn't.  :kisswink:

C'mon...conference foes are always a tough deal. They know you. Others have only a week to prepare. UNI didn't win the games they needed to win, but they sure were bette then Weber. Can't speak ofr EWU, because I only saw parts of a couple games, but they sure can't be called an elite team.

UNI would beat the snot out of most of the Big Fluffy. Argue all you want, but EWU has no GD defense and lost to a mediocre SFA team and Weber got the absolute shitye kicked out of them by W&M. WSU: 167 TOTAL Yards. WTF?

Christ, UNH went down and beat the hell out of McNeese.

No excuses, the BEST three teams of the Big Fluffy gave up 130 points (the least was 38) and 1295 yards of offense in their 3 games...and not one team they played was a clear cut conference champion.

The Big Sky hasn't been "Big" since Nevada, Idaho and Boise left. Still, the griz win it every year, so that's saying....something, I guess.

You are making my point for me. You play like dogshit in a handfull of games this year are still able win against mediocre teams. If UNI plays like shit, they get beat because they play better teams, which is what happened this year.

If "conference foes are always a tough deal" then DJH's argument is null and void. We were challenged by 2 of the 3 NON conference foes we played as well. And we still won those games. And I'm not arguing whether UNI would "beat the snot out of most of the big fluffy". But MOST doesn't include Weber and EWU. :kisswink:

UNI chooses to play like shit against any team worth a shit. THAT'S why they lose to those teams. That points to a team without any heart. :kisswink:

Well I figured as long as it appears we're allowed to throw out unfounded accusations and claims, I might as well make up a few doozies as well.

This whole "UNI played better teams and would have been competitive against W&M" argument is laughable. Weber got down early and "didn't have a run game" because THEY HAD TO PASS TO CATCH UP. Much like Montana's absence of a run game, when you get behind you typically abandon the run and try to catch up through the air. I'm sure that game is no more indicative of Weber's skill level relative to W&M's than the Illinois State game is indicative of UNI's heart. :kisswink:

One final thought, Cappy and then I'll let it rest: People keep talking about the 38-0 score like it was some kind of offensive "explosion" by W&M. W&M's OFFENSE didn't score a TD until midway through the THIRD quarter. THAT TD made it 24-0. Saying W&M blew them out is like saying the Griz/Jacks game was an "offensive explosion" despite the fact that neither team even had 400 yards of offense. And they keep throwing out the "negative yards rushing", when everyone with a brainstem knows that sack yards are deducted from the rushing totals. Trevyn Smith had 13 carries. THIRTEEN. He average 22 a game prior to the playoff game...it's obvious that Weber abandoned the run once they got behind and Higgins getting sacked resulted in the net negative yardage.

But, it's all good. Weber had no business in the playoffs and UNI would have won the whole thing if they'd just been allowed to participate. BSC fans get that.
