While it may be true that EWU outgained SFA in those areas, it's not like it was EWU killing on offense and SFA was doing nothing. It was dead even on offense, SFA just ended putting up more points.EWURanger wrote:Yep, we had more yardage, both passing and rushing, fewer penalties, fewer turnovers....but our defense gave up too many big plays. The Jones fumble and the pick in the end-zone were the keys factors in that game, IMO.
Still, kudos to SFA, they played a good game. And it's been a great year, from no-chance to the play-offs, hard to be too dissapointed about an 8 win season and a 4th play-off apperance in the last 6 years.
I'm excited about next year. T. Jones is going to have a huge career at Eastern, he had a monster game today, and did it with a broken hand and broken ribs. Watch out next year, BSC!![]()
And good luck to SFA the rest of the way, although I think you will have your hands full next week!
Passing yards- 462- 431
Rushing- 134- 131
Penalties- 6-42 7-76
Turnovers went a lot better in EWU's favor, as expected. But, in passing and rushing, it was about as even as it gets.
The major difference came on special teams, SFA was lights out on special teams, getting great returns and stuffing EWU's return game, EWU missed a big field goal at the end. EWU had that bad snap on the point that netted about 10 yards. We consistently got touchbacks and pinned EWU in on the kickoffs, often starting EWU on the 20 or deepeer, while our avearage starting field postions was often on the 40 yard line and beyond. That was huge.
I wish EWU all the best. Taiwan Jones was worth watching EWU, and I will continue to follow him. Matt Nichols was pretty amazing, except for in the 2nd quarter. I'm glad the game turned out with lots of points. It was fun all the way through.
