Based on some of those defense against the run stats, I'm not sure it matters who "fill in the blank" is against W&M. IF this whole thing comes down to Montana against W&M, it appears that Chase Reynolds & company will be effectively neutralized and Andrew Selle needs to play an entire game like he did in the 4th quarter against SDSU.

But have you seen Southern Illinois play?

Every conference on this board is almost entirely made up of homer posters.

Last week it was the SLC saying New Hampshire was not the clear favorite (oops), the Big Sky backed Weber (oops), etc.

I think all 4 quarterfinals are pretty evenly matched up and most of them will come down to the turnover margin and special teams play.

I don't disagree...which is why I predicted what I did...a close game, that I think W&M can win, but could go either way...

One interesting note I haven't seen much discussion on...

SIU was pretty consistant in being voted #1 in various polls...yet did not get the #1 seed...

The committee must have seen something there...

Or can the Salukis' prove them wrong???

It's gonna be a good one...

There is no one single explanation for why SIU dropped to #3. #1 or #2 in all polls. Most computers had SIU ahead of Montana at least. Selection day I expected Villanova to be ahead of SIU and Montana both because of their resume. The committee pulled something weird out of their asses and no one on SIU's team cares.

Hearing #1 ranked #3 seed is pretty funny. But whatever..

My guess is attendance numbers.
The NCAA wanted the money from Montana home games.

I did have SIU winning this game in my bracket but after last weekends showing by Bill and Hillary I would change my pick if I could.

I wouldn't. The big sky is pretty much the patriot league of the west sans Montana. The result against weber was expected. n

Straight up disrespect is what it is. Been that way all year, CAA this, Montana that, CAA this, Big Sky that.

Montana ostensibly gets the 1 seed, (flying in the face of the polls), because they are undefeated. SIU is undefeated in FCS play too, and could have pussfied their schedule to ensure no losses at any level, but didn't, but then the criteria change and Nova gets a top two seed because now it's OK to have a loss because, well, they're from the CAA. Same with the Payton, all about AE and Huggins, with Karim as an seldom mentioned afterthought. Can the Salukis prove you wrong? I don't know if they will or not but I guaraneffingtee that the team they put on the field will have every bit as much talent, speed, and football ability W&M.

This will be a good game...an since im from a decent neutral conference i wont be a homer :thumb:. William and Marys D did a hell of a job shutting down Webers high powered offense (really if you think about it however it was Higgins 4 Interceptions that lost the game for the Wildcats :twocents: :twocents: ) but the Tribes offense did take a while to get going as well as their offense didnt score a touchdown until the second half  and even then only were able to put 14 points on the board. And to me Dieker is an alot better QB Higgins. The SIU offense is very high powered and can light up the score board, and in part thanks to their defense who is also pretty good can win games (they do have a very good front 7).

Overall i think William and Mary will have the same offensive issues that they had against the Wildcats and will once again rely on their defense to win this game. However i think the SIU is a better offensive team then Weber and will be able to score, and plus home field advantage SIU will win this one in a close game:

FINAL:
SIU: 20
W&M: 3

Most of your post is a bit of a whine, so I won't respond...

But I have no doubt the team that takes the field Saturday will be an outstanding one...which is why I think this could ....COULD...be one of those rare games for the ages...

I really do believe the winner could go all the way...

Good luck...I'll be rooting all the way for the Tribe...but I really do feel it will be one hellava game... :thumb:

Just getting in touch with my emotions, bro. :ugeek:

I believe that the marquee match up of W&M's D vs. SIU's O might just be overshadowed by the forgotten match up of W&M's O vs. SIU's D.

For the marquee: If W&M plays the run with seven, SIU will need to run for 125-150 yds. to win. If W&M brings more, that number goes down to about 100 yds. because we'll get good pass play or two off.

Some good points. W&M's offense has been "late arriving" several times, and that may be the difference this Saturday. Still, thinks it's going to be a great one, with the Tribe's Chattanooga defense looking forward to the quality challenge SIU's offense will bring. It's 14-13 Tribe in my dreams, but who knows?
Probably some critical officiating call in the 2nd half will fuel the outcome.

@SUUTbird

Dieker won't be starting. He's been out for a while now though he began practicing this week.
